The Women of Miramichi Entrepreneurial Network wishes to inform your school that we are making available a $250 bursary for female graduates of 2019 throughout the Miramichi area.

This bursary will be awarded based on the following criteria:

➢ You are a relative of a WOMEN member

➢ You are a female 2018 graduate of Miramichi Valley High School, James M Hill High School, Blackville High School, North and South Esk Regional High School or Carrefour Beausoliel. 

Any female graduate wishing to be considered for this bursary should send the WOMEN network their information on or before Monday June 10, 2019 to the email address indicated above.

Up to a maximum of two $1000 bursaries to be awarded to  successful High School Graduates
Any Grade 12 student who has been accepted into an accredited post-secondary institution. The bursaries will be based on individual’s financial need, academic standing and community involvement. 
 Completed Applications will include:
1. Application Form
2. Transcript of Marks
3. Letter of Acceptance from Post-Secondary Institution 
4. Personal Essay

Applicant must be entering into post-secondary education (of any kind) and must show proof of acceptance. Vounteering in school and community is one of the listed criteria.

To assist a deserving female student to pursue further studies or training at a recognized post-secondary institution




·        Must demonstrate leadership skills


·        Successful graduation from James M. Hill


·        Minimum of two years at this high school


·        Applicant must have applied to a post-secondary institution


·        Based on need, marks, and participation in school and community


The Sweet Caroline Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 scholarship competition. It is open to residents of New Brunswick (regardless of age) who will be attending an accredited post-secondary program in the upcoming academic year. The scholarship recipients will be required to provide proof of acceptance and enrollment. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment and creative approach to raising awareness and educating others about life threatening allergies. To apply, please complete the attached application form along with a 500 word essay describing your interest and efforts to raise awareness and educate others about life threatening allergies. Please provide us with contact information for two references. Deadline for submission is May 24th, 2019.

Please see the attached list for external scholarship applications that are available in the guidance department. An "external scholarship" is where the application needs to be filled out, criteria met and then sent off to the contact listed on the application. These all have different due dates and criteria, so be mindful of this when collecting these applications. 




The easiest way to go about this process is to use the attached list (there are copies in the guidance department), check off the scholarships you are eligible for and take the corresponding applications out of the filing cabinet. Please let either Mrs. Hamilton or myself know if copies are running low.




The Internal Scholarship application (one application, multiple scholarships) will be available next week. This gets turned in directly to the office.

The Tommies Minor Basketball Association Bursary will be awarded annually to the graduating Tommie basketball player who best demonstrates the positive qualities inherent as an ambassador for the sport of basketball, and for our programs.



1. Successful graduation from James M. Hill Memorial High School
2. A member of the girls or boys basketball team
3. A former registered player for the TMBA
4. Pursuing post-secondary studies

The Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program is available to Canadian high school students who are enrolled in their final year of high school as of May 31, 2019 and eligible to graduate from high school in 2019. Those eligible for a scholarship must be planning to enroll at a Canadian post‑secondary institution (degree or diploma) in a first-year agriculture, food science or culinary program.


If you have applied for entry into a college or university, but have not yet been accepted, you can still apply for a Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship. However, if you are awarded a scholarship, you must provide an acceptance letter from your educational institution.


Successful applicants will each be awarded a scholarship valued at $1,500, based on demonstrated academic standards and leadership in the community. Selection will be made by an independent panel.

One graduate from each High School will receive the $2000 Big Brothers Big Sisters / Boys & Girls Club Scholarship.


Criteria for selection:


  1. Financial need:  you need financial support to go to College or University.
    Tell us about your situation and include the paperwork listed in the application.
  2. Volunteering – you give your time to help others.
    Tell us about your volunteer work; where do you help out in the community?


You are eligible to apply for this Scholarship if you are graduating from:


  • Miramichi Valley High School
  • North & South Esk Regional
  • James M Hill
  • Carrefour Beausoleil
  • Blackville School


To be eligible for the scholarship you must:


  • demonstrate financial need to go to post-secondary school
  • be a 2019 High School Graduate
  • be registered in a program at a University, College, or Trade School for the next school year
  • maintain a minimum average of 75%


To be considered for this scholarship you must provide:


  • a completed and signed application form, including the expenses and income information
  • a document that indicates financial need (Current pay stub and Line 150 Taxable Income as stated on the most recent Notice of Assessment)
  • 2 letters of references: 1) who knows you personally  1) who will validate your volunteer involvement
  • a copy of your most recent school transcript
  • a copy of your letter of acceptance from your University, College or Trade School


Application deadline is May 1, 2019.


The City of Miramichi Inside Workers CUPE Local 3863 has (1) bursary valued at $500.00 in memory of John James Bryenton. The bursary is for the students' first year attendance at any university, college, or community college. Preference will be given to sons and daughters or legal wards of members of CUPE Local 3863.

Basis of award is marks, aptitude, promise and financial need.

  • Must be registered as a full-time student in a first-year program of a post-secondary school by September following the school year of applications
  • Must provide an official document from their academic institution confirming that they are accepted for the following academic year and indicating that a diploma or degree is underway
  • Must have sponsorship from an educator that knows the applicant at the same school (secondary school), and a reference letter from him/her
  • Must include a motivational letter outlining your reasons for application, your goals, and relevant background
  • Must provide an up-to-date transcript of their academic records.
  • Must submit a resume.




$1000 will be awarded to one student in the Miramichi Region (MVHS, JMH, NSER, BHS and Carrefour Beausoleil).





All Anglophone and Francophone New Brunswick public high school graduate students graduating and accepted (or on a waiting list) in the current year at any campus of the New Brunswick Community College, the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick or the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design are eligible.

One scholarship is available for each New Brunswick public high school in the year for which it was granted.


The total value of this scholarship is $1,000 awarded in two equal installments against to student tuition fees: the 1st installment is awarded at the beginning of the academic year, and the 2nd at the beginning of the second term upon successful completion of the first term and the student has returned to class.


All applicants must submit the completed application form to their high school Guidance Office no later than May 27th.

Note: If May 27 falls on a Saturday or Sunday, your application form is due the next business day.

The IWK Foundation invites applications for the Robbie and Jean Shaw Scholarship. This award consists of two non-renewable scholarships valued at $2,500 each.


Eligible applicants are current or former IWK patients who have an academic average of 75% or higher and who are entering their first year of post-secondary studies.


Applicants must submit a minimum 500 word essay answering the following question:
How has your experience at the IWK shaped your goals for the future?


Some points to consider when writing the essay:


  • Why the IWK is special to you
  • Community involvement (both with IWK and beyond)
  • Hopes & dreams for the future
  • How the scholarship will make a difference for you

In addition, applicants must submit two personal references — one from a teacher and one from a representative at the IWK who is familiar with their care journey.



VALUE:   Announced annually. Average value $600 / year.
TERM:  Four (4) years.

1.   Applicant must be a Scotsman, Scotswoman, or be of Scottish decent.

2.   Applicant must have been accepted for entrance to Arts, Science or Applied Science Course at the University.

3.   Financial need to be taken into consideration in deciding among applicants.                   

4.   If the recipient fails to maintain pass-standing he / she, at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee, may be required to forfeit the Scholarship.


VALUE:   $3000.
TERM: One (1) year.

1.  Must be a member or a son or daughter of a member in good standing of the Highland Society of New Brunswick at Miramichi.

2.   Must be attending a first-year program at a recognized Canadian University.

3.   Financial need to be a consideration in  deciding among applicants.

4.   One-half amount payable in the fall; second half on proof of satisfactory first-term results.


TERM:  One (1) year. (Candidates may re-apply annually)

1.  Relatives of members of Highland Society of N.B. at Miramichi in good standing, (sons, daughters, grandchildren, nephews, nieces).

2.  Must be planning to attend an institution providing post-secondary education.

3.  Financial need to be a consideration in  deciding among applicants.

All applications for Scholarships or Educational Grants must be accompanied by two letters of reference -  and your school or university along with a transcript of your marks from your school or university.
