In class, we were discussing families. I would like you to compare yur families' traditions and customs with the traditions and customs of other familes (cultures) around the world.

In class, we were discussing the stereotypes of what "old" people do and what they actually do. I would like you to find a senior citizen who defies the stereotypes and write down the information that is asked for in the assignment.

Welcome to home Learning!

The reality of not returning to the classroom is starting to set in and we have all had to make adjustments to many aspects of our everyday lives. One of these changes is to take your education from the classroom to your own home!

This week I would like to begin by getting all my classes connected and set up on Microsoft Teams and the “Remind” App. Please check my teachers page later this week. I will begin posting assignments once everyone has a chance to get themselves set up.

How to set up Remind App:

1. Download Remind App from your app store...it is free :)

2. Follow instructions on screen

3. When given the choice, choose “I’m a Student”

4. Please submit first and last name when prompted to

5. Enter code: 93ggh6 (for Grade 9 Math)

234ak2 (for Individual and Family Dynamics)

                       8962e4 (for Human Services)

This app allows our class to communicate through texting but doesn’t share your phone number with anyone else.It will allow easy communication with myself and other classmates that may be able to help with assignments.

How to set up Microsoft Teams:

You have access to Microsoft products at home. You can go to www.office.com and use your school email and password to sign in. Once signed in, click the waffle (9 small dots in left hand corner of the screen) and select which Microsoft program you want. You can also download the app for many of the Microsoft programs by going to your app store.

***If you forgot your email or password, text your Full Name, School, and Grade to: 1-506-210-0127 or email northstudents@nbed.nb.ca***

 1. GRADE 9 MATH:

Join the JMH Grade 9 Math Home Learning team by opening Teams on your computer. Once opened, join a team (button near the top right of the screen), select Join a Team with a code, and enter 02bbwkv.

Once you are in, click on the top task bar and choose Files, you will find folders for the various Math units. You will click on the Linear Relations folder (the first lesson will be a review) to get you started. The folders will contain lessons and assignments. If you have questions, click on Posts and start a conversation, we will do our best to help you. Answers will be posted later in the week.

This is new for teachers and students, try not to get overwhelmed. We realize most of you do not have your textbooks at home. No problem, all you need is the file in teams, pencil and a calculator. Guess we can no longer stop you from using your phone as a calculator (ha ha). If you are unable to access for any reason, please contact your teacher.

 2. INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY DYNAMICS:

Join the INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY DYNAMICS Home Learning team by opening Teams on your computer. Once opened, join a team (button near the top right of the screen), select Join a Team with a code, and enter y292dig.

 3. HUMAN SERVICES:

Join the HUMAN SERVICES team by opening Teams on your computer. Once opened, join a team (button near the top right of the screen), select Join a Team with a code, and enter a9u91az.

Once you have successfully joined our class on Teams, please just familiarize yourself with the program and the options it has to offer. I will be posting assignments and activities on Teams later this week.

If you have any problems setting up the app or Teams or have questions about our new situation, send me an email at riley.burns@nbed.nb.ca
