We are now finishing the final book in the Canada Reads unit - journals and reflections for book four are due now! As well, we are listening and interpreting Canadian songs from the 1980's - make sure you have your summary analyses for two of the 1970's songs in by Wednesday, April 13.  Attached is my Notebook lesson ad song list - you can go on youtube to hear the songs you may have missed.

Students will continue watching the movie version of "Of Mice and Men" tomorrow.  Students should be completed the packet of work by Wednesday.  Today's handout on the ending of the novel should be started tonight - a draft at least. Also,  a reflection is due on Friday, April 15 - be thinking of a topic related to the novel. The project topics have been handed out- please choose an idea and a  partner (if needed) for Wednesday.

Students should have completed all questions up to and including Chapters 4 -6.  Also, all characters and vocabulary should be updated as necessary.  Students will read chapters 7 and 8 tonight and be prepared to discuss them in class tomorrow.

Students have cmpleted the 60s music choice and have made draft notes on each.  Due Wednesday are two analyses of the two song choices following the outline given in class. Also, a reflection and journals for book four of the Canada Reads series is due Tuesday. One more book to go! On to the music of the 70s on Tuesday.

We have begun To Kill a Mockingbird and students should have completed the first four pages of the packet for Tuesday.  Make sure to update character and vocabulary lists accordingly.

Students are to be completing the novel packet for Of Mice and Men.  Notes on characters, vocabulary and themes are of importance.  Also record the rising action of the novel.

Our Canada Reads competition is continuing - Students will prepare to debate their first book on Friday, February 25.  A few students need to finish reading - good luck!! Over the next few weeks students will continue reading the other four finalist novels from the collection and writing journal responses for each.

The play, "Death of a Salesman" is complete.  Students are working on gathering pertinent information and quotations for two major characters in the play.  As well they will be working on concluding questions tomorrow.There will be a few poems with which students will make connections also.

We are almost finished reading "The Crucible"!!!  We completed Act III today; students, please read over the summary notes on- line (sites were given) for the past three acts to ensure you understand the plot and character roles well.  Questions 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9 and 12 must be completed on loose leaf for tomorrow.  Good luck!

Students have begun a research assignment which will be completed over the next week.  Students are reminded to continue their work on this at home as well.  Students are responsible to read a series of novels throughout the term; please ensure the reading is up to date.   A reminder, too, reflections are due Friday, November 26.
