TOMMIES FOOTBALL

For the first time since 1969, Football is finally back on the Miramichi River, and people couldn’t be happier. The Tommies football team started back on August 16th, doing practice for an intense 5 hours a day (9-12, 6-8) from Monday thru Friday. The boys trained hard all summer in preparation for their first season ever.

After countless hours of practice, the boy’s first game took place on September 9th at the MVHS football field. Nerves were high as the sidelines were crowded with over 600 people for the season opener. The boys fought a hard game, and even though they scored a crazy 26 points in the 4th quarter, it wasn’t quite enough. The boys lost to the Pulamoo with a final score of 40-26. The touchdowns for the Tommies were scored by Mike Walsh, Matthew Daigle, and Andrew Lanteinge (2). All in the 4th quarter. “Getting my first touchdown, it felt really good, if you saw me on the field you could tell I was excited. I feel the boys really came together at the end of the game” Daigle tells me.

The boys take on Sussex this Saturday, September 24th at MVHS. See you there Tommies!
