TOMMIES FOOTBALL

For the first time since 1969, Football is finally back on the Miramichi River, and people couldn’t be happier. The Tommies football team started back on August 16^th, doing practice for an intense 5 hours a day (9-12, 6-8) from Monday thru Friday. The boys trained hard all summer in preparation for their first season ever.

            After countless hours of practice, the boy’s first game took place on September 9^th at the MVHS football field. Nerves were high as the sidelines were crowded with over 600 people for the season opener. The boys fought a hard game, and even though they scored a crazy 26 points in the 4^th quarter, it wasn’t quite enough. The boys lost to the Pulamoo with a final score of 40-26. The touchdowns for the Tommies were scored by Mike Walsh, Matthew Daigle, and Andrew Lanteinge (2). All in the 4^th quarter. “Getting my first touchdown, it felt really good, if you saw me on the field you could tell I was excited. I feel the boys really came together at the end of the game” Daigle tells me.

            The boys take on Sussex this Saturday, September 24^th at MVHS. See you there Tommies!
