Provincial Skills Competition

Good luck to JMH students Alex Thompson, Jamie Estey, Bradley Mattinson, Zach Creamer and Alex MacDonald who are competing in the Skills Canada Competition this weekend.This Saturday, April 12th, over 90 high school students from all across the province will be in Miramichi competing in hopes to get a spot on Team Skills Canada NB which will compete at 20th annual Skills Canada National Competition to be held in Toronto, Ontario in June. This event will be open to the public at no charge so please come encourage our future skilled tradespeople reach the podium. Students from 27 different high schools have registered to compete.Both area high schools will be hosting contest events with the closing ceremonies to be presented at 4pm at the James M. Hill auditorium.At 8:30, the Miramichi Valley High School events get underway with the following three contest areas:• Carpentry• Fashion Technology (Sewing)• Architectural Design & Technology (CADD)At 9:00, the James M. Hill High School contests get underway with students going head-to-head in:• Automotive Service• Electrical Installation (Residential Wiring)• Cabinetmaking• IT-Software Solutions for Business (MS Office)• TV & Video Production• Workplace Safety• Welding• Cooking
