Girls Tommie soccer team are off to regionals after playing in heavy rains on Saturday, October 22nd. They first played AQV at 10:00 am defeating them 3-0 with Shannon Bowes, Kailey McGraw and Haley Fanjoy each scoring a goal. Winning that game gave them their place this weekend in Regionals. Later at 3:30pm on Saturday, the girls played PLM for a seeding game and to play for hosting regionals. With the rain still pouring down, the girls were down 1-0 at half time but the girls kept pushing and never gave up. With 10 seconds left PLM gave up a penalty shot. The pressure was on as Haley Fanjoy stood up to take it and she did it! Hitting the ball low and hard, bottom right corner she scored then the whistle blew. It was time for over time, after having a team huddle with coaches the girls didn’t stop there they put a boat load of pressure on the PLM goalie with shot after shot. The girls ended up scoring 2 goals scored by Hailey Malley and Taylor McKay the first 10 minute half of overtime and kept up their defense the next 10 to hold on to their lead. Then game over, the girls defeated PLM 3-1! The Tommie girls will now be hosting regionals here on home turf next weekend. Come out and support your fellow Tommies!
