September 24, 2016- The city of Miramichi hosted their annual Pumpkin fling contest!! In this contest people sign up to get a chance to fire a pumpkin out of the PUMPKIN CANNON towards a target floating in the river. The closest to the target wins. New for 2016 is the mini trebuchet challenge. This event is an open invite to any schools who want to participate. The objective is to fire a tennis ball out of the trebuchet towards a target 15-20 meters away. The closest tennis ball to the center of the target is the victor. The day consisted of malfunctions and breakages but the biggest factor was the wind, which blew some of the balls off course and out of bounds. In the end James M. Hill took third, wishing we could have done better but pleased with the result. All I can say is that we will be back stronger than ever next year!!
