Law 120- Students are introduced to current sentencing of Cody Schumaker guilty of beating a 1 year old to death. What were the events surrounding the trial. Talk about respect for the court. Students will then form groups to discuss the rights of victims and work together to develop a charter for the classroom… outlining their rights as students and consequences for violation of those rights. Today teacher reviews the French revolution through the six benchmarks. ·         Historical significance- It is important because the result was the Declarations of rights for man. This is what protects and governs civilizations around the world. ·         Primary source evidence- Historians accounts, paintings that capture that moment of history. First hand documents to support the events as well as structures that tell the story. ·         Continuity and Change- Change to the rights of men and of women. Countries have learned to blend Monarchs and democracy. Not all changes were good… lots of bloodshed. ·         Ethical dimensions of History- the bloodshed that brings about revolution shows the importance of this belief. ·         Historical Perspective’s- What did the people feel like under a monarch that did not care… helps us to learn to understand the power we have in democracy and through the election process. ·         Cause and consequence- the change of rights of men changed the world forever. Small changes from men who stood up for rights eventually lead to freedoms of men.  Reading tutor: Get to know our Chinese students. Teacher will play some low organized games to help build rapport with Chinese students. These students will be tested to gain understanding as to their level of English. Ancient History: Finish the Great debate paper. Due Monday- quiz is also on Monday- I will ask you to write for me the seven wonders of the ancient world and include one fact for each. The other words will be used for a quiz at the end of the week.
