Period 2 and 4 Law: Prep day. Students will research and prep for thier Law cases. Opening arguments begin tomorrow. Follow these prompts to write an opening statement. (Other students may wish to start their paper.)

• A good opening statement inckudes how the attorneys plan to prove their case.
• Events are in order so Jury can understand it.
• Begin by addressing the court- "Your Honor, my name is __________ and I represent the Crown/Defense in the case of ______________.
• Include these important proper statements: "The evidence will show that..." or "The facts will prove that..."
• Include your witnesses- names according to the case to provide strength for you case.
• You may wish to warn the jury about your opponents schemes- "The defence will try to ..." Or the prosecution may show that..."
• Conclude with a strong statement that shows what you intend to do. "Not guilty"
• This could be about 1 page.
