Broadcast Journalism: Students will use class time today to complete their write up and pitch for their segment or television show. The students can follow yesterday’s plan to find out details that are needed for the pitch. After the students have organized their ideas, students should look at several commercials or clips that relate to their ideas and write down the following ideas, that will be handed in with their pitch. Watch these clips from you tube and submit and answer to these questions: How many times does the camera cut- creating new angles?- And discuss the purpose of each angle and how does it tell the story. How does the “B-roll” help move the story or idea along? How do the camera set up each shot and what strategies are used to focus the viewer’s attention?
