Eng 112 - FINAL TEST TOMORROW (Friday)  Irony in the Ending of LOTF What are three examples of irony in the ending of Lord of the Flies? 1. It is not the controlled signal fire that brings help (like Ralph assumed), but the haphazard forest fire Jack's hunters set solely for the purpose of killing Ralph.2. The kids are so shocked by the navy officer, and so psychologically removed from his world, that they don't celebrate his arrival, rather they're bewildered by the sight of him.3. The officer doesn't understand how "British lads" could act with such "poor form", but ironically, he himself is involved in a war.
