Music 10 Week of April 6- 10

Posted: April 7, 2020

Hi guys!

Here is the plan. Each week you will be expected to do the following:

1. explore one to two different styles of music (Jazz, Rock, Country, Blues, Ska, Folk, Canadiana, etc.) You select the styles that you wish for that week and listen to as much or as little of it as you wish. . You may find that you like, or dislike certain styles, but what often sheds some light on why a particular style sounds the way that it does, is its history. So... as you explore and listen, do some research and determine from where and when this style emerged, and make note of its evolution throughout the years. For example, RAP is very different now than it was during the time of Grand Master Flash.

2. If possible, play an instrument. If you happened to have taken your assigned instrument home with you...PLAY it :) www.youtube.com is an incredible source where you can find countless instructional videos on countless instruments. If you did not take your instrument  home, but maybe there is a neglected guitar or dusty piano in your house, give that a whirl. If neither of these options is available to you DON'T STRESS, as this will not be held against you. However, if you're feeling creative you could build a one of a kind instrument... or an ugly stick (look it up) Ha! Feel free to send me evidence of these creations through video. I'd love to see what you come up with, as would the entire community. Use this time to bring some joy to folks who could use it. Maybe those folks are in your own house, your neighbour, or maybe they are across the world, or maybe its YOU.Regardless of where or who, giving a concert in your driveway or posting a video online of you singing and/or playing an instrument could be super helpful to somebody, somewhere.

That's it for now guys. I will continue to encourage and challenge you throughout the coming weeks with suggested activities. If ever you have questions and/or concerns PLEASE reach out to me via email candace.curtis@nbed.nb.ca

Take care and be safe!
