Biology 122:

Please complete the review sheet on section 10-3 that was handed out in class.

Please read the article on Henrietta Lacks and write a response to the following two questions.  Your answers should be in complete sentences and, in paragraph form.

1. What rights do we have over the posthumous use of our bodies for medical research?  Should we always give consent, or should our bodies be available to science if they have the chance to contribute to the betterment of society?

2. Why do you think scientists felt they had the right to take cells from Lack's body and use them in research?

Please complete your Gel Electrophoresis Lab Report.  Be sure to include the following in your discussion/conclusions.

 

"Based on the results of the experiment . . . "

 

Indicate which dyes are positively charged, and which are negatively charged.

 

What is the composition of the unknown sample?

 

Which dye molecules traveled farthest/shortest distances through the gel? Why?
