Approximately 1/3 of deaths in Canada are related to cancer and it is estimated that 173 800 new cases will be diagnosed in our country this year. James M. Hill Student Council has decided to plan a Cancer Awareness week which will be held on October 18th, until the 22nd. All week long student activities will be held to raise money for Cancer Awareness. The theme of this week is Think Pink, the symbolic color for Breast Cancer.
The third cycle of study block starts Monday Oct 18 and runs to Nov 4. Check the student room assignments posted by the library and the office. If your name is not there go to room 522 during study block.
Parent-teacher interviews are set for Thursday Nov 4 from 6 - 8pm (please note the date change as the interviews were scheduled for Wednesday but are now Thursday evening), and Friday Nov 5 from 8:45 - 11:45.
Friday, October 1st marked the beginning of our annual magazine and gift campaign fundraiser here at James. M. Hill. Top seller prizes will be awarded as well with every item sold, the sellers name will go into a draw for the new I-pod Nano. For the third place top seller, fifty dollars will be awarded, for second place, one hundred dollars will be the prize, and finally for our overall top seller, we will give two hundred dollars, plus dinner for 2 at a local restaurant and free tickets as well as a free picture package to the Christmas Dance.
SPC cards will be on sale at lunch until the end of the week. Don't know what SPC is? The SPC card is your pass to exclusive student deals on fashion, food and entertainment; with between 10-15% off at almost 120 stores. The cards are $9.00 each and an extra incentive for buying them at school is that you do not have to pay tax. There is a limited number of cards so don’t miss out!
