SPC cards will be on sale at lunch until the end of the week. Don't know what SPC is? The SPC card is your pass to exclusive student deals on fashion, food and entertainment; with between 10-15% off at almost 120 stores. The cards are $9.00 each and an extra incentive for buying them at school is that you do not have to pay tax. There is a limited number of cards so don’t miss out!

Students are now able to request computer use (the CPUs in room 811) during study block.  Students must fill out the form Student CPU Study Block Request Form (see your teacher or the JMH documents list).  You must have the form into Mr. MacDonald the day before you want to use the computer so plan ahead.  Computers are on a first come first serve basis.  You may request more than one day but be aware that if there are many requests you may not get two or more days in a row.

The second cycle of study block starts today, Sept 27, and runs until Oct 15.  Students are reminded that this is a time for assignment completing or reading.  Come prepared as you are not to leave the classroom.  See the JMH documents list for room assignments.

Our Tommie Soccer Girls team participated in the 30th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run on Sunday, September 19, 2010.  Please click on the Sports tab of our JMH webpage to see the image gallery.  The 5km race began at the LBA, toured through former CFB-Chatham, then finished back at the LBA, with a fine showing of green and gold.   Thanks to Coach Jason Hebert for his participation in the full 5km, too, even with a pulled hamstring.  Way to go, Tommies!

The Loran Awards are national, regional, and provincial scholarships ranging in values up to a maximum of $75,000 tenable at selected universities in Canada. One must have high academic standing, and demonstrate leadership, service to community, and character. A school may sponsor only three candidates. Applications may be obtained in the Guidance Centre, and must be submitted by October 1st . The website is: www.loranaward.ca .

The MVHS AARAO Career Expo evening is fast approaching. It is scheduled for October 5th in the MVHS gymnasium from 7pm to 8:30pm. All JMH students and their parents are welcome to attend. There will be representatives from colleges and universities from across Atlantic Canada, to provide information on their programs, scholarships, and services.

Holland College offers a two year GOLF CLUB MANAGEMENT and a one year PROFESSIONAL GOLF MANAGEMENT program. Our two year Golf Club Management program has been in existence for fifteen years, meeting the needs of the Canadian golf industry. Our third year program, entering its twelfth year, is geared towards those students who have aspirations of becoming a golf professional and are interested in advanced courses. Students must successfully complete the Golf Club Management program before applying for the third year program, both of which are endorsed by the CPGA.
