History 113 Cold War projects should be completed tomorrow--this could be on any event that appeared on our timeline of the Cold War Era.   History 111 Book Reviews are due on Monday!!   History 112 World War II Projects due on Wednesday (either passed in or to be presented)   Law 120 Today: Notes on sentencing (ch.11)

History 113:  We are looking at the events of the Cold War, and in particular this week, the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Students had a timeline due on Monday.  If this is outstanding it needs to be completed and passed in asap!   History 112/111:  Totalitarianism essay!  Next:  Appeasement of Hitler--good decision or bad decision?   Law 120:  Legal Defenses  Tomorrow:  Not Criminally Responsible defense and mental illness...what is an appropriate sentance?

History 113: The Atomic Bomb Students have a project due on WWII.  They had a choice of topics/formats.  Most students have these completed and passed in. Tomorrow we will be looking at the American decision to drop the atomic bomb.  Students will have notes and questions to complete.   History 111: The Work Plan I have created a calendar that lays out a work plan for the rest of the semester, to keep us on track and to ensure students know what needs to be done. We are filming a silent movie to meet the outcomes in the curriculum for this unit.  Students will demonstrate understanding of both the destruction and the impact of the war on individuals and society.   History 112: WWI UNIT TEST Tomorrow on World War I   Law 120 Students should complete the chart and scene scenario from the textbook.  Due no later than the beginning of class on Wednesday, April 6th. Next up: Investigation and Arrest!            
History 113 Students have worksheets to help them understand how Hitler came to power in post-WWI Germany.  They should comeplete the worksheets in preparation for a look at the Nazi's and racism.   History 111 Peace Conference tomorrow!  It is July 1914, the eve of the Great War, and we will hold our peace conference to try and avoid conflict.  Come prepared to present your countries point of view and to negotiate towards peace. Next up: WWI....   History 112 We have now looked at the causes of WWI.  Mr. Hardy will be teaching a Unit on WWI over the next week...   Law 120 Today and tomorrow: Case study of a troubled youth...the Ashley Smith Case.  Next week...jury selection...how and why are jurors selected.

Law 120 Students continue to review for a major unit test on Dec 6th.  They have review sheets to work on, sample questions, and a "Pocket Guide" that they should have created to help them with the test.  Tomorrow we will play Jeopardy in class to continue the review.   History 112 Students are completing projects on WWII and also creating test questions, an exercise which helps them choose relevant information, as well as review the major concepts.   History 113 Test on Monday!  WWI and the Holocaust.  Students have worked on review sheets the past couple of days.  Friday will be another review day.

Law 120 Yesterday we learned about the jury selection process, and how lawyers choose a jury (factors they consider).  Today we went through a mock jury selection so that students could think about the various aspects of jury selection.    History 112 We are studying totalitarian governments prior to WWII, in particular the rise of Hitler and what made Germany so willing to accept the policies of the Nazi party.    History 113 WWII....students have chosen on event from WWII they view as "significant" and are either creating a powerpoint or writing an essay on that event, incuding an explanation of why it it significant/important.

We are studying the inter-war period, in particular how Hitler was able to come to power in Germany.  Students have a worksheet to read, and then 7 questions to complete.  Question number 8 is an extension which asks them to synthesize questions 1-7 into a short informal "essay".  Due tomorrow: Nov 2nd

Law 120 Students are teaching the class (either individually or in small groups) about the various types of forensic science used in a police investigation.  Their mini-lessons are approx 15 minutes long and can include Powerpoint, video, games, quizzes, activities....   History 112 We are continuing our study of the Great War with individualized projects.  Students (alone or with a partner) choose a topic from the WWI era, and use their creativity to explore the topic.  The types of projects will vary depending on a student's interest and ability.

Law 120 Any students who have not finished their assignment on "Walter and Cecil: You be the Judge" (Ques 12, p.158) should do so for homework.   History 112 The July Crisis: Can you Stop the Great War? Students were placed in small groups and are assigned a country.  They must create a presentation (for Monday, Oct 18th) based on the issues that may be pushing their country into war in July of 1914.  On Tuesday, after all groups have presented, we will hold a "peace conference" to try to prevent war.   History 113 WWI--You Make the Grade Students will make up test questions (and answer those questions) as part of an assessment piece on the Great War.  This allows students to (1) review key concepts and (2) practice selecting what is important in a unit.
