There are applications in the guidance office filing cabinet for the Kidney Foundation of Canada - Atlantic Canada Branch Bursary. To qualify/apply, you must be: any kidney patient, the spouse of a kidney patient, or a dependent child of a kidney patient. A kidney patient is defined as one on any mode of dialysis, is transplanted or has been diagnosed with chronic renal disease.   $500.00 Bursary Application due June 15th.
The Chamber Scholarship, valued at $1000, is awarded annually to the successful candidate that best exemplifies high academic accomplishment, community leadership, business knowledge and aspirations, and financial need. The 2014 recipients, Lydia Stewart from MVHS and Olivia Gregan from JMH, model all of these attributes and will represent the Miramichi Chamber well as they head to University in the Fall. We wish them both the best of luck in their academic pursuits and career aspirations!   Eligibility:-          Must be registered as a full-time student in a first-year program of a post-secondary school by September following the school year of applications-          Must provide an official document from their academic institution confirming that they are accepted for the following academic year and indicating that a diploma or degree is underway-          Must have sponsorship from an educator that knows the applicant at the same school (secondary school), and a reference letter from him/her-          Must include a motivational letter outlining your reasons for application, your goals, and relevant background-          Must provide an up-to-date transcript of their academic records.-          Must submit a resume.Value: $1000 will be awarded to one student in the Miramichi Region (MVHS, JMH, NSER and Carrefour Beausoleil). Northumberland Cooperative Limited is pleased to announce they will be offering six (6) scholarships to students entering a post secondary program in the fall. The scholarships have been named to honour the work of Charles Butler and William Vickers, two men who made outstanding contributions to the development and growth of Northumberland Cooperative Limited.  The scholarships are valued at $1000.00 each. Application deadline is June 26, 2015. In order to apply students must be entering a post secondary educational program in September, 2015. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, extra-curricular or community participation and need. Consideration will be given to those entering careers in agriculture or related industries. Two (2) scholarships are reserved for children of employees or members of Northumberland Cooperative Limited. The other four will be awarded to students within New Brunswick; of these four, two will be awarded to students attending New Brunswick Community College.*APPLICATIONS ARE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE AND ATTACHED HERE

The Douglastown Lions Club is offering the opportunity for JMH students who live in the Douglastown area (from Nordin to Bartibogue) to apply for their yearly scholarship of $1000.00. If you are a potential JMH grad who lives in the Douglastown Lions Club service area, and you have demonstrated leadership and community involvement, you qualify to apply for this scholarship. Copies are in the guidance office.   The deadline to have the application and all necessary documentation passed in to the office is May 15th.

NEW SCHOLARSHIP Applications for the Joseph William Lyons Memorial Scholarship are in the filing cabinet in the office. It is open to upcoming JMH grads who have contributed to school spirit at JMH either by playin gsports or serving on committees. Any grad going into post-secondary intitution with preference given to trade or vocational school. Good academic standing and financial need are also criteria. $500.00   SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE The Nancy Lordon Memorial Scholarship amound has been increased from $500 to $750 because of the generosity of the JMH Alumni Association and family committee. This scholarship is open to females with demonstrated leadership qualities, applications are in the filing cabinet.   SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE The criteria on the application for the Saint Michael's Catholic Women's League Bursary has been updated to say that "preference will be given" to applicants whose mother and/or grandmother were members of the CWL.     NEW SCHOLARSHIP (emailed and copied in the cabinet) MAURICE DAIGLE SCHOLARSHIP FUND AND N.B. GROWERS GOLF TOURNAMENT SCHOLARSHIPS 2015 (1) The awards are open to students whose parent, or parents are registered growers or have been registered and are no longer required to be registered with Potatoes New Brunswick (2) Applicants will study at a recognized agricultural college or university (3) The award shall be announced in November of each year and awarded at the successful completion of the first semester. If the first semester has not been successfully completed by the student, the amount will not be paid out, but will be added into the Fund’s principal. (4) The award shall be made for the purpose of furthering the recipient’s agricultural education at a recognized agricultural university or college. (5) A notice will be mailed out in May to all registered growers (6) Applications must be received by the selection committee on or before June 30th

*This information was emailed to grads on April 7th There are two new scholarships in the filing cabinet, Knights of Columbus - 2 scholarships $500 each (Ken Gouchie Memorial and Father B. M. Broderick Memorial) - Grads who are sons, daughters, grandsons or granddaughters or Council #1219.  JMH Class of 1984 Alumni Bursary 2 Bursaries (male/female student) $225 each - preference given to an applicant who is a child or grandchild of a member of the JMH Class of 1984. Community involvement and demonstrated leadership.
*This information was announced on April 9th Grade 11 students who are interested in going to UNB or have interest in attending University after graduation are encouraged to sign up for the UNB bus tour on April 29th. On that day, students will tour campus, meet with faculty advisors are have any of their questions answered about being a University student. The sign up sheet is in the guidance office, please ensure you sign up this week.   Attention graduates! Scholarship forms are available in the guidance office, please pay attention to the deadlines and ensure you have transcripts, reference letters in place WELL BEFORE they are due. If you are a potential graduate and NOT receiving emails from Mr. Martin or Mrs. Hamilton, see one of them in the guidance office immediately.

* This information was emailed out to grads on April 1st. The following scholarships are now available in the filing cabinet in the guidance department. Please ensure you let someone in the office know if there are no copies left or only a few remaining. Please take ONLY the applications you qualify for. Harry M. Daley Memorial Bursary (external: applications are sent away) This bursary is offered to students who are pursuing their first year of post-secondary education at an accredited university or college in Canada. Two bursaries of $3000 each will be awarded (1 member / 1 non-member of the Credit Union) in Northumberland County. The timeline on this is tight, applicatoins are due TO BE RECEIVED by April 17th, 2015. Applications are in the filing cabinet.  NBTA Credit Union (external: applications are sent away) $1000 award (5 annually) available to students whose parents are member-owners of the NBTA Credit Union. Deadline is April 30th, 2015. Applications are available in the filing cabinet.  NBCC Entrance Scholarship (internal: return to JMH) $1000 - any student accepted (or on a waiting list in the current year at any campus of the New Brunswick Community College or the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design are eligible. Applications are in the filing cabinet. Deadline: May 27th Big Brothers Big Sisters / Boys and Girls Club of Miramichi "Positive Impact Scholarship" (external: applications are sent away) $2000 - 2015 High school Graduate. Registered in a program at a University, College or Trade School for the next school year. Minimum avg of 75%. Applications are in the filing cabinet. Deadline: May 1, 2015.

*This information was emailed out to grads on March 27th Here is the list of currently available local scholarships. Take note of the criteria and select ONLY ones that you qualify for. On Tuesday, March 31st, paper copies of MOST of these applications will be in the filing cabinet in the Guidance Office. In the event that the cabinet is empty, or there are no copies left of a particular scholarship application, please let the office know so they can be refilled. Please note the deadline for submission is May 15th and most require you to fill out additional information to be included with the application.
