Students are to make a title page that includes a coat or arms which is divided into 4 parts. One section will be on ancestry, one on what it means to be Canadian, one on yourself and who you are, and one on your future. At the bottom students should place their "motto".Value: 15Students are also going to tell 4 stories from their past. Immigration stories, World War stories, a "legendary" story, that has to do with their ancestors. The way in which students do this is up to them. They will have access to a recording booth, video cameras, iPads, and a computer lab. They can create movie, a photostory, a PowerPoint, a poster, or a combination.  Students must discuss their plans with the teacher and will have 4 hours of lab time to accomplish this.Value: 40  Assignment Due: Nov. 16th

Mr. Theriault Social Studies 9   Unit 2: Chapter 2   Plate Tectonics/Continental Drift Group Assignment Value: 30                 Imagine that you are Alfred Wegener and you are presenting a lecture abut your new theory to your fellow scientists. Prepare your lecture, using visuals to summarize the theory and to present your evidence in support of it.     In groups of 2 or 3:               You will have a few days in the lab to work on this assignment. Together you will create a slideshow presentation on Plate Tectonics and Continental Drift. Do not just simply “present” on this, but treat it as if you were trying to convince your class that this is true.   When preparing you presentation, try to keep the following in mind:   You are trying to convince your class.Many of you do not like talking, so make sure someone in your group does not mind.Make sure that your presentation is at least 8 slides in total.Use all the time you have in the lab, do not wait for the second day!
