Hello and happy Tuesday!
Today we are going to continue with our letter writing unit. If you have not yet emailed your personal letter to me, please do so.
By now you should have had an opportunity to read over the two documents I provided yesterday on business letters, so today I would like you to get started with creating your own business letter. In doing so, please follow the steps I’ve outlined below:
1. Select the purpose of your letter.
2. Preplanning: List all the items you can speak about regarding this topic.
3. Number the items in the order you would like to present them.
4. Begin drafting your letter.
5. Edit your letter.
6. Prepare a typed final copy.
For today’s class, you are only required to complete steps 1 and 2.
Slide 8 of yesterday’s PowerPoint provides a list of reasons for writing business letters, so you may wish to refer back to that to help you with step 1.
Once you establish the purpose of your letter, begin brainstorming all the things you can talk about in relation to the subject.
I would also like you to spend fifteen minutes reading your personal novel.
Important Note: It is absolutely necessary that you go onto Teams each day at the beginning of English class and send me a notification. This will inform me that you have seen the day’s assignment(s) and I will be able to record your attendance. I also dedicate this hour to working with your class and answering any questions you may have.
Just a reminder, the school will be open today from 12 to 1 if you would like to drop by to retrieve anything from your locker.
