"Elements of Music" is what we have been discussing thus far in class: Melody, Harmony, Dynamics, Tempo, Tone, Instruments, and Meter. Over teh weekend find examples of "singable and non-singable" melodies.

Congratulations to Grade 10 Music students who did a fabulous job on their Rockband projects. The quality of the projects was outstanding; the best that I've seen in years. I will be posting audio and video clips of some of your work. Well done!! I'm so proud of you all!

So we've been discussing instrument families and characteristics of those instruments. Before we begin playing any instruments it is important that you all know a trumpet from a French horn, and xylophone from a bass drum. If you are uncertain about these instruments and any others, take some time this weekend to practise identifying instruments visually, and recognizing the sounds  that each instrument makes.You can do this using the websites we used in class, as well as, the Instrument Bee slideshow (see attached). Check them out in the "weblinks" section on this page. You will be tested on this material on Wednesday, Oct.12th. Have a great weekend and eat lots of turkey!!

Congratulations to Grade 10 students on their successful completion of their "Rock Band" projects. There were a lot of awesome projects with some great quality compositions using software and real instruments. So proud of you guys! Check out some of the masterpieces.
