English 9 - Today, you plugged away at the draft of your character sketch (using your outline as a guide).  That draft is due tomorrow, as one of your peers will do some editing for you. English 122 - We determined that the draft of your resarch essay (with support) will be due on Friday, as it will be edited by a peer.  On top of that, you decided that we will be examining Oedipus Rex and Dante's Inferno as our drama selections.  Woooooooo!!!!  Can't wait!  Also, don't forget about the reflection you have due on Friday.

English 9 - Today, you handed in your novel packet, we reviewed the Grade 9 curriculum document, and you received the rubric I'll be using to score your Book Talks next week.  Get to work! English 122 - We reviewed the Grade 12 curriculum document, you handed in your reflections (thanks!), completed a little response writing to a quote from Albert Einstein, viewed some pretty horrible photos from Hiroshima, then got to work on section III (which is due Monday).

English 9 - Today, you completed an in-class writing that analyzed some of the "monsters" your characters have have to face, and how the author of your novel gave your character skills and traits to helo them do so.  Remember, your completed novel packet is due on Friday, and we'll begin our book talks next week. English 122 - Last night, you were to complete your Article of the Week and section one of Hiroshima.  Today, we discussed those items, noted some really good writing in the book, and continued reading, working on the section two guiding questions.

English 9 - Today, we played "What would my character..." as a warm-up, and you showed some terrific insight into the way you're reading your novels.  After that, you continued with your character sketch's organization, and read/plugged away in your novel packet. English 122 - In class today, we reviewed the main types of narration style (first-person, third-person limited and omniscient, and objective), you received your guiding questions, began your "active notation bookmarks", and began Hiroshima.  Please don't forget about your reflection, due tomorrow.

English 9 - In class today, you continued with your novel and novel packet, then your were "zapped" a character sketch assignment.  Remember, we're only in the organization stage, so use whatever graphic organizer you think would work best at this point.  For homework, keep reading and working in your packet. English 122 - Today, we made a master list of our best Bloom's questions (just so you could judge how great they were!), then we completed a KWL chart for Hiroshima, and you were assigned your book.  We'll figure out (together) how much we're going to read to start off.

English 9 - Hello!  Today, you enjoyed some SSR, then got to work developed a terrific quiz for one of your classmates using our Bloom's flipcharts.  We'll finish those Monday, then you can trade them and mark them yourselves.  Good work! English 122 - Hi to you, too!  In this afternoon's class, we made a new Wordle filled with adjectives about the play, the author, and the main character.  After that, we examined the last quizzes you wrote using the OCA rubrics, and tried another one.  Remember, THERE IS NOT ENOUGH CLASS TIME to complete your entire multi-genre piece due on Wednesday, right?  So, please use your time wisely this weekend.

English 9 - Since we've completed The Monkey's Paw, we watched The Simpson's version today, then got back to work on determining the most important plot events before we give each section a title and storyboard them.  BOY, we're working on a lot of the outcomes!  We'll finish that up tomorrow. English 122 - Reviewed, then continued on your muli-genre project, due next Wednesday.  Use the guide and scoring rubrics to help you along, right?

English 9 - Hi there!  In class today, we completed the short story, The Monkey's Paw, and you worked on a short in-class writing dealing with WHY you think Mr. White wished his last wish - was it for himself, Herbert, or his wife's sake?  For tonight's Article of the Week, it's a little different.  Do not do notation or summarize.  Instead, write a short paragraph to EXPLAIN (an explanatory report, right?) why the drowning in your one-minute mystery was not an accident.  Remember, your opinion doesn't mean much with support, so EXPLAIN it clearly.  Thanks! English 122 - Hello!  Congrats on finishing Dr. Faustus!  Your Article of the Week is attached to this post, due for tomorrow, of course.

English 9 - Good day!  In class today, you were given a gentle reminder about your assignment due on Friday, then I "zapped" you a Point of View lesson (it's now saved on your netbooks, right?), and you completed a Pie Chart of Responsibility in anticipation of reading the short story, The Monkey's Paw.  We'll discuss those tomorrow.   English 122 - You completed a Fiction vs Non-Fiction writing (our first practice using the OCA rubrics), then we reviewed yesterday's reading and kept on truckin'.
