This week I would like to begin to get all my classes connected with the “Remind” App. This app allows our class to communicate through texting but does not share your phone number with anyone else. It is a great way to stay connected during our time apart. I am sure that some of you are already using the app in some of your other classes, but for those of you that are not familiar with the app, here is some information to get you started.

How to set up Remind App:

1. Download Remind App from your app store...it is free :)

2. Follow on screen instructions

3. When given the choice, choose “I’m a Student”

4. Please submit your first and last name when prompted to

5. Enter code: 46kfhc (for Grade 9 Phys Ed)

264cda9 (for Grade 10 Phys Ed)

                  46bh9g (for Nutrition 120)

I would like for all students to download the "Remind" App and enter the code for your class within the next couple of days.

Thanks,

Mr. Burns

Good morning everyone,

I hope you all took advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend and got outside for some fresh air! Just a little reminder of this week's assignment- 1) One hour of physical activity (minimum of 30 minutes outside). 2) Reduce your screen time by a minimum of one hour. * Nutrition class- cook or help a family member cook one meal each day for you and your family.

New this week- Plank Challenge

Preform a plank every day this week and record your time. The goal is to see an improvement from the beginning of the week to the end. You can send your results to me at the following address- andrew.burns@nbed.nb.ca

FYI- my plank time this morning was 4 minutes and 11 seconds (my goal for the end of the week is 5 minutes). The world record for the longest plank is 8 hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds. Good luck :)

Have a great week!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all got outside this weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather, I know I sure did!!

For the next 2 weeks all of my classes (Phys Ed 9 & 10 and Nutrition 120) will be focusing on the following: 1) Continue to get a minimum of 1 hour a day of physical activity (with a minimum of a half an hour outside). Once again, this can include- walking, biking, hiking, jogging, yard work, playing catch, kicking around the soccer ball, shooting hoops, working on your slapshot, dancing, working out, etc. 2) For the 1st week I would like you to keep track of your daily screen time, that includes not only cell phone use, but tv, computer and video game time as well. For the 2nd week I would like you to try to reduce your screen time by a minimum of 1 hour a day. Please be sure to track your daily activity and screen time in a log book.

* Nutrition 120- I would like you to continue to log your meals on a daily basis and make a conscious effeort to make healthy choices whenever possible. I would also like for you to cook (or help a family member cook) at least one healthy meal for you and your family everyday.

Have a great week Tommies!!

Hello Everybody,

I would like to start off by saying I hope you are all doing well and I am really looking forward to seeing you all again soon! Though we cannot physically be together at JMH, we can still stay in touch with the use of technology. That being said, if any of you need to contact me for any reason, you can message me at Andrew.burns@nbed.nb.ca. I also want to let you know that I will be using my teacher page as my primary source to get information out to you with regards to staying physically active. I am also asking that you check the Physical Education page periodically as well.

Phys Ed 9 & 10 - For the first two weeks I am simply asking that you get some fresh air and physical activity for a minimum of 60 minutes per day. Spring is finally here so get outside, enjoy the fresh air and have some fun! Go for a walk, a jog, a hike, a bike ride, have a catch with a family member, practice your hockey skills (stickhandle, shoot pucks, etc.), work on your jump shot, kick the soccer ball around, toss the frisbee, football, the possibilities are endless. I have attached an activity log which includes three sections- 30 minutes of outside activity, 15 minutes of family walking, and 15 minutes for a dance/workout challenge, so you can keep track of your daily activities.

I am also asking that my Wellness Nutrition 120 students keep a daily food log as well as an activity log for the next two weeks. I would like you to keep track of all your meals, snacks, water intake, etc. and I encourage you to make healthy choices whenever possible. It is very important to do as much as you can to stay healthy during this time!

That’s all for now. Take care everyone!
