Period #1- Ancient History- Objective: Students will examine the geographical regions associated with the development of the Egyptian Civilization.               The Students will be given their Mesopotamian test. Students will the read and discuss the Geographical elements and climate associated with Egypt. The teacher will tie into the current world issues involving the nation. The students will be able to identify where Egypt is on the map and explain what they would have to do to live in such a climate. We will also examine what the historical significance behind the history of Egypt.Period #2- Media StudiesObjective: The students will present their description and product to promote the school website. The students will have the opportunity to present the information to the Principal of the school, take his suggestions and finish their product.Period #4- Ancient History.Objective: Students will examine the geographical regions associated with the development of the Egyptian Civilization.              The Students will be given their Mesopotamian test. We will also examine what the historical significance behind the history of Egypt.Period #6- Theatre Arts- Objective: The students will prepare and present a persuasive presentation on a Broadway production.Musical Project    Broadway musicals have been a delightful pastime of many that appreciate the theatre. From the time people gathered into the Elizabethan theatre to view Shakespeare plays to the present time, plays and musicals have allowed the audience to drift away to another time and place. In-groups of 2-3 students will research and present one musical. They may choose their own or pick from the teacher’s list. First students must research about some of the background of popular musicals.  Choose a musical- ·      Start with the title, the writers and the directors. ·      Get the History behind its setting. (time period) ·      Talk about the characters, include a character sketch of the top 3-5 characters. ·      Explain the plot of the musical. (What is it all about?) ·      What is the climax? ( the high point of the musical).   In each production their are "wow" factors what are some that you will use to creatively draw in your audience..   Explain why this musical works for the JMH stage..   Talk about the audience and how you will reach them..   Illustrate and talke about the set and cost of production. ·      Include pictures, examples of music.Due on Monday March 21st, 2011.

Period #1- Ancient History Objective:Students will demonstrate their knowledge of Mesopotamia culture. We have just completed the sections (chapter 2-3)  on Mesopotamia. Students are then asked to write a fictional story about life in Mesopotamia including 10 facts discussed in the class.  Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how to deconstruct media/ Codes and conventions. Students can take the time to finish their media triangle deconstruction of media text assignment. For the students that are finished they will start on the Subliminal messages paper or finish script for their codes and convention presentation. Period #4- Ancient Historysame as Period #1- Students in this class are using the information to make songs.                    They have randomly chosen a musical style and as section of the text about Mesopotamia. Songs need to be            completed by Wednesday. Due tomorrow.   Period #6- Theatre Arts Objective: students will research and develop a list of interview problems and generate a video to create interview awareness.Script is generated and recording begin on Friday and conclude on Monday. Have script ready for recording. labs are available for uploading video. Project is Due on Thursday.- Presented in class.

Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will analyze and report on the different social structure of Mesopotamia. The importance of law. Students are divided into groups and have to read and lead a discussion with the class on their section.They will explain the information and give the three most important notes in their sections. Compare the information found to modern day times. What are the similarities and the differences. Due tomorrow. These notes will be part of their unit test.   Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how to deconstruct media/ Codes and conventions.   Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will analyze and report on the different social structure of Mesopotamia. The importance of law.  The seven wonders of the ancient world discussed. Finish for homework and HAVE DUE BY WEDNESDAY. Students will then look at the social structure of the Mesopotamia and develop questions for the class to discuss. This information will center around the importance of law in a civilization. The students develop laws to govern the structure, organization, procedure and distribution of information in the class. Discuss which laws should govern the class. The voted ones will be implemented for the term.    Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how to deconstruct media. Students deconstructed media text in a superficial process. The media triangle will be explained and then look at what is really being sold. Deconstruction and analysis. Due on Wednesday. Period #4- Ancient History same as Period #1   Period #6- Theatre Arts Objective: students will research and develop a list of interview problems and generate a video to create interview awareness.Script is generated and recording begin on Friday and conclude on Monday. Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will analyze and report on the seven wonders of the ancient world.   They can work in pairs and it is due tomorrow. Tell them to find out the following for each of the 7 wonders of the ancient world.   ·       Describe the wonder ·      Who was the builder ·      Why was it built ·      Where was it built ·      Is it still standing? If not, what happened. ·      When was it built? ·      How was it built? ·      Any other interesting facts.    Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how to deconstruct media. Students deconstructed media text inh a superficial process. The media triangle will be explained and then look at what is really being sold. Students will also examine and report the historical significance behind each of the four kingdoms.  Why this location?/ the 4 kingdoms. Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how to deconstruct media.Students will discuss the codes and conventions that exists within media products and identify these within print and video.   Period #4- Ancient History Objective: Students will  demonstrate their understanding of the four kingdoms that populated the area. Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will understand the geographical position of ancient Mesopotamia and demonstrate their understanding of the of the negative and positive elements of the area. Quiz on 8 definitions/ the meaning of Mesopotamia/ geographical location/ Why this location? Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how codes and conventions popularize our understanding of cultural norms. Students will discuss the codes and conventions that exists within media products and identify these within print and video.   Period #4- Ancient History Objective: Students will understand the geographical position of ancient Mesopotamia and demonstrate their understanding of the of the negative and positive elements of the area. Quiz on 8 definitions/ the meaning of Mesopotamia/ geographical location/ Why this location?   Period #6- Theatre Arts Objective: students will examine the presentations given and discuss the positive elements needed in communicating information. Then students will examine how characters send and receive verbal and no verbal messages. What makes a good presentation? Through the interview process students will construct and example of non verbal information. Discussion on building a character/ the background research.

Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will examine the language used in Mesopotamia and the impoortant of the written word. What would communication be without language?/ Cuneiform/ Epic of Gilgamesh/ Sumer Period #2- Media Studies-   Add the following information to their slides and they will present on Friday.           ·      What were the greatest inventions of the era and how did it change things ·      What were the top three significant events that happened? ·      Show the value of a new car at the time, cost of a home and the average family income. Period #4- Same options for period 1- Ancient History.  Period #6- Theatre Arts- Room 812- Students can practice for their presentation. Due tomorrow.
