Period #1- Ancient History- Objective: Students will use reason and deduction to explore and write paper on the great debate. See online instructions on the Friday lesson. Those students who have completed their writings for Monday will get a chance to edit with Mr. Gopee. before handing it in on Wednesday. Homework reminder- Quiz (8 definitions) on Friday February 11th, 2011.   Period #2- Media Studies Objective: Students will develop and explain the popular culture of a particular era. Due on Thursday February 10th, 2011. Period#1- Ancient History Objective: Students will create theories and build an argument to support their theories.  The Great debate paper.                                                    Period #2- Media Studies-        Objective:Students will explore and demonstrate through presentation their understanding of popular culture. Popular culture Assignment #1- Battle of the Decades. Period 4 -  Ancient History 10 - Objective: Students will create theories and build an argument to support their theories.     The Great debate paper Period. #6- Theatre Arts-               Objective: Students will demonstrate their of the foundational fathers of theatre through a creative presentation.             The students will choose a founding father and research and present information: examples such as Shakespeare/ Moliere/ Chritopher Marlowe/ Ben Jonson/ Middleton. 2 days research and 2 days to prepare script and presents on Thursday next week. Students are reminded about their 7 ages of man quiz on Friday (today)

Period 1 -  Ancient History 10 - Objective: Students will explore the theories of the origin of man. Frame of reference discussed- "The true story of the three little pigs.                                                                                         Definitions: artifacts, , primary and secondary documents, archaeologist, Anthroplogist, paleoanthropologist Period# 2- Media StudiesObjective: Students will explain through examples the six roles of Mass Media.Definitions/ Use each role as a page heading and find and attach two examples of mass media products that effectively illustrate this role.Period # 4 -  Ancient History 10 - Objective: Students will explore the theories of the origin of man.Frame of reference discussed- "The true story of the three little pigs.                                                                                         Definitions: artifacts, , primary and secondary documents, archaeologist, Anthroplogist, paleoanthropologist   Period #6- Theatre ArtsObjective: Students will demonstrate their understanding of the history of Theatre.Students will use the Text book to review and explain to their peers the historical journey of the theatre. Period #1- Ancient History- Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the importance of history and explain how perspectives affect t how we view history.  Course Outline/ Benchmarks Presentation/ Why Study Ancient History? Frame of Reference.(Developing a theory through perspective) Period #2- Media Studies-  Objective: Students will produce information that shows how much Media affects their lives and develop a strategy for decrypting Media related productions. Course introduction/ Media Watch awareness exercise/ 5 core concepts of Media discussed. Period #4- Ancient History- Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the importance of history and explain how perspectives affect t how we view history.  Outline/ Benchmarks Presentation/ Why Study Ancient History? Frame Of Reference Period #5- Study Block Period #6- Theatre Arts- Objective: Students will be able to explain the real life implications of the stage according to Shakespeare. Period #1-Broadcast Journalism: Get all sound effects needed for your stories by end of tomorrow.Period #2- Explore more photoshop. Working with photosPeriod #3- #6- Ancient HistoryYou will work in pairs to explore the world of Aesop. In doing so we will recreate one of his many stories through children’s literature.   Page #1 of your book- Design a cover of your book, state title, Aesop’s original title and retold by whom (Your name) Page #2- 2-3 paragraphs discuss Aesop and his fables. Here are some questions to guide you: 1.     Who was Aesop? Where was he born, what time did he live in and his origin. 2.     What were his significant accomplishments in history? 3.     Why are his stories important for us today? Page #3- to however many you need. Begin your story and use drawings and colours to illustrate your children’s story. Final Page-  First write Aesop’s moral and then, explain the moral of the story in child-like terms. This will be due on Tuesday when you get into class.

  Broadcast Journalism- Period #1- Students are working with Mr. Martin writing class to construct stories through audio software. The audio software will enable them to make effective radio programs, documentaries and create an environment for their video stories. Script should be completed today. I will be looking for evidence of the following: 1.       Pictures 2.       Background with colour. 3.       Text (Font type) 4.       Filters 5.       Symbols that help push the message of the poster. 6.       Colour and Hue changes 7.       Visually appealing 8.       Clone stamping 9.       Layering- at least 7-10 different layers 10.   Evidence of brushes, cut-outs and other tools You will have 4 days to accomplish the task. Due on Wednesday 15th December 2010.   Period #3-#6- Ancient History- Students will examine the works of Aesop and how his fables promote empathy towards man. They will choose a fable and redesign it for a modern audience. They will then explain how this virtue is important in a civilized community. In pairs choose one, rewrite it in a moderna day fromat, use illustrations (drawing) Essentially you are making a children story book. At the end please write down the moral of the story. Tomorrow is a lab day and then you will have it Due on Tuesday. No one can do the same story. First come, first serve.

We will examine why these two cultures conflicted and how this is significant in our time. Miss Breau will be there for period 3. She will discuss Mycenaean culture and give notes. Then watch the Minoans and Mycenaean video. If there is time finish up with Athenian video on the same VHS. For period 6, have students read the mycenaean section page 134, discuss and write down the five most important facts. The finish with Athenian video.

Period #1- Broadcast Journalism-Students worked on editing their video stories. Due on Wednesday of this week.Wed-  Today write a news story and post it on the district 16 report page. dt16community.nbed.nb.ca/report Video Blogs begin on Friday. Period #2- Multimedia search youtube to find tutorials and create examples of working with colors.
