Period#1- Ancient History- Students will complete the story of Troy. We will examine and list the information on Greek's culture that is displayed through Homer's Illiad. How does this help us understand the ancient Greeks?Period #2- Media Studies 120- Lab 108 Students will spend the class finalizing their projects and then submitting them to the teacher. Our next chapter concentrates on Film and Media. Students will examine the outline of the competition of the KIN awards, (posted outside the door) and develop groups and write a proposal for a 5 minute movie. The proposal is due tomorrow.Period #4- Ancient History- Students will complete the story of Troy. We will examine and list the information on Greek's culture that is displayed through Homer's Illiad. How does this help us understand the ancient Greeks?Period #6- LAB 108 Students will go to the computer lad and watch videos on Honk. They will participate in one of the five groups: (continue this assignment) If finished begin looking through youtube videos for clues on your acting. We begin on script tomorrow.Dance- search the internet and watch the dance video if neccesary to develop the opening dance number.Setting- examine the script and draw and design a workable set with scene changes.Costume- examine characters and look up information to give a good representation as to what each character should wear.Directing: Blocking a scene; each person in their group will choose a scene and then block it. Use paper to map out what you are going to do, for example where do the actors go, what action do they have and emotion that is conveyed.

Period#1- Ancient History- Students will be introduced to Greece and the culture through Homer's epic poem, the Illiad. This was discussed in class yesterday. Period #2- Media Studies 120- Students will finish their presentations on the 3 forms of advertising. Today is the last Lab day and students must be reminded that it is due on Monday morning. Zoom recorder should be shared so that all students have the opportunity to record their audio files. Use sound effects and backgound music. Audacity or auditions can be used. Please create a folder under you name on the D drive. Period #4- Ancient History- Students will be introduced to Greece and the culture through Homer's epic poem, the Illiad. Period #1- Ancient History- Egypt the final Chapter. The students were given a TIC-TAC-TOE sheet of Egypt to complete. This acts like the final for the unit. The students will have one week to complete the task, using the internet and the textbook. Students will be marked daily as well on progress and class work ethic. Period #2- Media Studies- Students are broken into groupsand must accomplish an effective media campaign using the 3 areas of advertising- video/ radio and Ads. The students will be marked daily on progress, collaboration and class work ethic.              1. They must write a script for Video- record and edit a finished work.- And be able to explain choice and the reasoning for the video- remember be creative and use effective advertising techniques. And extra 20 points for something overly creative and unique.                                                              Radio- submit script- use sound effects- use background music and be creative- Audio itself can paint and image to the consumer. Magazine Ads- use color, be able to substantiate why you made your choices - do a brief write up to explain. Today students will search the internet to gain and understanding of the show. Search the internet to get information on the musical HONK and answer the following questions.A summary of the showSetting of the showWatch youtube videos of the show to get a good sense of the effective acting/ singing and dancing- list the URL that you consider the best with a summary of each.Choose one character of the show that you find that you are most like and write a character sketch of your choice and state why you see similarities or why that character interest you.What elements of this show will be the most challenging for you and why. What areas are you most comfortable with? The stage? The backgrounds. You should express your area of interest as well as how you plan to push out of your comfort zone. Thos of you with experience what area do you hope to grow in. Every show, every opportunity, every chance is a chance to improve, what ways do you hope to improve.

Period #1- Ancient History- Students will watch and record 15 important notes on the video "Engineering and Empire"- Egypt. The information will help them understand the great builders of Egypt and the historical significance of these accomplishments. Period #2-Media Studies-The Students will examine the ways in which advertisers entice and influence the consumers. Project started- three venues of advertisment- TV ads/ Radio spots/ Poster- Students will choose a product and devlops ads according to the information discussed in class. Period #4- Ancient History- Students will watch and record 15 important notes on the video "Engineering and Empire"- Egypt. Period #1- Ancient HistoryObjectives: students will examine the religious practices of Egypt and compare it to modern religious beliefs.Students will discuss religious beliefs and why they are developed and then look at the Egyptian gods. Students will draw a modern version of that god. This exercise will help students discover the value of beliefs and how we live according to these values. The Egyptians worshiped many gods and lived in fear of them. Period #2- Media Studies-  Presentation of the top 5 commercials and 5 bad commercials. Period #1- Ancient History Objective: The students will watch Egypt the quest for immortality and write down 10 facts about the video. Period #2-  Media Studies- Students discuss the ways in which Media influences them. Project- the search for the 5 greatest commercials and the 5 worst commercials. Can be done through any presentation software. Presents on Monday. Please explain what makes it successful or a failure. We will use this information to guide our thinking about how to develop successful commercials as we will be building a product and advertising it. Period #1- Ancient History-  Objective: Students will explore the stories of the Pharaohs of Egypt. Hatshepsut and Ramses II Extra Credit assignment- students may complete the assignment to give them 30 bonus marks. Develop a 2-3 page paper on one of the four kingdoms of Mesopotamia. Think about the findings or archaeological achievements that helps us understand the culture of Mesopotamia. Include all resources used. Period #2- Media Studies Students will also explore how Media influences thier image/ behavior and their values.. The medium is the message. McLean’s Magazine article assignment – “TV new tricks to sell you stuff.” 1.                       Outline the innovative ways that advertisers are promoting their products. 2.                       Explain how effective or ineffective these ways are to your generation. 3.                       Summarize the article. Period #1- Ancient History- Objective: Students will examine the historical significance of Egyptian culture.Students will post and explain two pictures on elements of Egypt and what significance they have for us today.Period #2- Media StudiesObjective: Outline of quiz given and presented on Tuesday. Students will construct a poster explaining popular culture. Does popular culture simply relate to an age group, a generation or a particular society?Period #4- Ancient History.Students will post two pictures and explain the historical significance behind them.Period #6- Theatre Arts- Objective: The students will prepare and present a persuasive presentation on a Broadway production.Musical Project Broadway musicals have been a delightful pastime of many that appreciate the theatre. From the time people gathered into the Elizabethan theatre to view Shakespeare plays to the present time, plays and musicals have allowed the audience to drift away to another time and place. Lab continued.

Period #1- Ancient History- Objective: Students will examine the historical significance of Egyptian culture.The students will use the internet and text to help daw and choose pictures that explain how the historical significance of Egyptian culture. They will each have 2 pictures that they can use to put up on a bulletin board that shows how the we can earn from the ancient society. For example they may put us the pyramids and explain that this may have been the cowing building achievements to pharaohs to be remembered , but theses monuments have now become the icon or tourism in Egypt. Tday they will research the internet to gain the information and on Friday we will build the bulletin board.Period #2- Media StudiesObjective: The students will present their description and product to promote the school website. The students will have the opportunity to present the information to the Principal of the school, take his suggestions and finish their product.  Product is due on Friday.Period #4- Ancient History.The students will use the internet and text to help daw and choose pictures that explain how the historical significance of Egyptian culture. ( the high point of the musical).   In each production their are "wow" factors what are some that you will use to creatively draw in your audience..   Explain why this musical works for the JMH stage..   Talk about the audience and how you will reach them..   Illustrate and talke about the set and cost of production.·      Include pictures, examples of music.Due on Monday March 21st, 2011.
