Today, we completed an audio article of the week for a change; " Why We're So Afraid of Terrorism" from The 180 on CBC Radio.   We used the graphic organizer posted below to take notes from this 13-minute article, then answered the questions. Also, those reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest should be to page 180 by the beginning of class on Thursday; those reading Catcher in the Rye should aim for page 123.  Keep an eye out for quotes to pop out at you for whatever reason; we'll use them on Thursday.

Students are working their ways through the writing process, as they write a friendly letter,  By the beginning of class tomorrow, they should have the drafts, revisions and editing complete, and be ready to begin their final copies.  They also need to keep evidence of each stage of the process, as the planning, organizing, drafting, revising and editing is worth as much as the final.

Our Article of the Week expanded into a debate and writing assignment; if you have been missing, please read the article posted below, pointing out facts that support either the "Pro" or " con" sides of a ban on e-cigarettes in society.  Then, write a paragraph stating if you are either for, or against the ban - make sure to have a topic sentence, six sentences with facts and ideas to suport your side, and a bit of persuasive language.
