  Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will analyze and report on the different social structure of Mesopotamia. The importance of law.  The seven wonders of the ancient world discussed. Finish for homework and HAVE DUE BY WEDNESDAY. Students will then look at the social structure of the Mesopotamia and develop questions for the class to discuss. This information will center around the importance of law in a civilization. The students develop laws to govern the structure, organization, procedure and distribution of information in the class. Discuss which laws should govern the class. The voted ones will be implemented for the term.    Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how to deconstruct media. Students deconstructed media text in a superficial process. The media triangle will be explained and then look at what is really being sold. Deconstruction and analysis. Due on Wednesday. Period #4- Ancient History same as Period #1   Period #6- Theatre Arts Objective: students will research and develop a list of interview problems and generate a video to create interview awareness.Script is generated and recording begin on Friday and conclude on Monday. Have script ready for recording. labs are available for uploading video. Project is Due on Thursday.- Presented in class.

Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will analyze and report on the seven wonders of the ancient world.   They can work in pairs and it is due tomorrow. Tell them to find out the following for each of the 7 wonders of the ancient world.   ·       Describe the wonder ·      Who was the builder ·      Why was it built ·      Where was it built ·      Is it still standing? If not, what happened. ·      When was it built? ·      How was it built? ·      Any other interesting facts.    Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how to deconstruct media. Students deconstructed media text inh a superficial process. The media triangle will be explained and then look at what is really being sold. Deconstruction and analysis.  Period #4- Ancient History Objective: Students will analyze and report on the seven wonders of the ancient world.    Period #6- Theatre Arts Objective: students will research and devolop a list of interview problems and generate a video to create interview awareness. Sript is generated and recording begin on Friday and conclude on Monday. labs are available for editing. Project is due on Thursday.

Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will demonstrate their understanding of the four kingdoms that populated the area. Students will also examine and report the historical significance behind each of the four kingdoms.  Why this location?/ the 4 kingdoms. Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how to deconstruct media.Students will discuss the codes and conventions that exists within media products and identify these within print and video.   Period #4- Ancient History Objective: Students will  demonstrate their understanding of the four kingdoms that populated the area. Students will also examine and report the historical significance behind each of the four kingdoms. What makes a good presentation? Through the interview process students will construct and example of non verbal information. Discussion on building a character/ the background research.

Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will understand the geographical position of ancient Mesopotamia and demonstrate their understanding of the of the negative and positive elements of the area. Quiz on 8 definitions/ the meaning of Mesopotamia/ geographical location/ Why this location? Period 2- Media Studies Objective: Students will examine how codes and conventions popularize our understanding of cultural norms. Students will discuss the codes and conventions that exists within media products and identify these within print and video.   Period #4- Ancient History Objective: Students will understand the geographical position of ancient Mesopotamia and demonstrate their understanding of the of the negative and positive elements of the area. Period #1- Ancient History Objective: Students will examine the language used in Mesopotamia and the impoortant of the written word. What would communication be without language?/ Cuneiform/ Epic of Gilgamesh/ Sumer Period #2- Media Studies-   Add the following information to their slides and they will present on Friday.           ·      What were the greatest inventions of the era and how did it change things ·      What were the top three significant events that happened? ·      Show the value of a new car at the time, cost of a home and the average family income. Period #4- Same options for period 1- Ancient History.  Period #6- Theatre Arts- Room 812- Students can practice for their presentation. Due tomorrow.

Period #1- Ancient History- Objective: Students will use reason and deduction to explore and write paper on the great debate. See online instructions on the Friday lesson. Those students who have completed their writings for Monday will get a chance to edit with Mr. Gopee. before handing it in on Wednesday. Homework reminder- Quiz (8 definitions) on Friday February 11th, 2011.   Period #2- Media Studies Objective: Students will develop and explain the popular culture of a particular era. Due on Thursday February 10th, 2011. Homework- Study definitions for quiz on Friday February 11th, 2011.   Period #4- Ancient History- Objective: Students will use reason and deduction to explore and write paper on the great debate. Period #1- Ancient History- Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the importance of history and explain how perspectives affect t how we view history.  Course Outline/ Benchmarks Presentation/ Why Study Ancient History? Frame of Reference.(Developing a theory through perspective) Period #2- Media Studies-  Objective: Students will produce information that shows how much Media affects their lives and develop a strategy for decrypting Media related productions. Course introduction/ Media Watch awareness exercise/ 5 core concepts of Media discussed. Period #4- Ancient History- Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the importance of history and explain how perspectives affect t how we view history.  Outline/ Benchmarks Presentation/ Why Study Ancient History? Period #1-Broadcast Journalism: Get all sound effects needed for your stories by end of tomorrow.Period #2- Explore more photoshop. Working with photosPeriod #3- #6- Ancient HistoryYou will work in pairs to explore the world of Aesop. In doing so we will recreate one of his many stories through children’s literature.   Page #1 of your book- Design a cover of your book, state title, Aesop’s original title and retold by whom (Your name) Page #2- 2-3 paragraphs discuss Aesop and his fables. Here are some questions to guide you: 1.     Who was Aesop? Where was he born, what time did he live in and his origin. 2.     What were his significant accomplishments in history? 3.     Why are his stories important for us today? Page #3- to however many you need. Begin your story and use drawings and colours to illustrate your children’s story. Final Page-  First write Aesop’s moral and then, explain the moral of the story in child-like terms. This will be due on Tuesday when you get into class.

  Broadcast Journalism- Period #1- Students are working with Mr. Martin writing class to construct stories through audio software. The audio software will enable them to make effective radio programs, documentaries and create an environment for their video stories. Script should be completed today. I will be looking for evidence of the following: 1.       Pictures 2.       Background with colour. 3.       Text (Font type) 4.       Filters 5.       Symbols that help push the message of the poster. 6.       Colour and Hue changes 7.       Visually appealing 8.       Clone stamping 9.       Layering- at least 7-10 different layers 10.   Evidence of brushes, cut-outs and other tools You will have 4 days to accomplish the task. Due on Wednesday 15th December 2010.   Period #3-#6- Ancient History- Students will examine the works of Aesop and how his fables promote empathy towards man. They will choose a fable and redesign it for a modern audience. They will then explain how this virtue is important in a civilized community. In pairs choose one, rewrite it in a moderna day fromat, use illustrations (drawing) Essentially you are making a children story book. At the end please write down the moral of the story. Tomorrow is a lab day and then you will have it Due on Tuesday. No one can do the same story. First come, first serve.

We will examine why these two cultures conflicted and how this is significant in our time. Miss Breau will be there for period 3. She will discuss Mycenaean culture and give notes. Then watch the Minoans and Mycenaean video. If there is time finish up with Athenian video on the same VHS. For period 6, have students read the mycenaean section page 134, discuss and write down the five most important facts. The finish with Athenian video.
