Good day!  Today in English 9, we found out (almost!) Antonio's fate!!  Yikes!!  We'll complete Act 4, Scenes 1 and 2 tomorrow, then watch the film version.  In English 121, we discussed our chapter 1 guiding questions.  For tomorrow, please read chapter 2 of your novel, keeping in mind the three guiding questions for that section. We'll work on those in class tomorrow, then have a say about them.

Today in English 9, after you got your needle, we completed Act 3, Scene 4.  There is only one question for homework.  In 121 English, we reviewed what you'll be working on Thursday and Friday when I'm away (and when several of you are at Drama Fest) - it's attached to this post.  For homework, please complete chapter one of your novel, along with guiding questions one to three (I've also attached them to this post).

Today in English 9, we completed to the end of Act 3, Scene 2.  Way to go, Bassanio!  Stinks to be you, Antonio!  The questions are to be completed for homework.  In our English 121 class, you handed in your essays, then presented some key pre-reading elements for our novel.  Don't forget that your reflection is due tomorrow.

Good day!  Today in English 9, we enjoyed a little SSR, then completed to the end of Act 2, Scene 7 in The Merchant of Venice.  We now know that the "key" to winning Portia's fair hand is not in the gold casket, thanks to the Prince of Morocco.  Scene 7 questions should be completed for Monday.  In our English 121 class, we completed the Thirty Minute Thriller, then discussed the essay assignment that will be due next Thursday.

In English 9, we covered scenes 4 - 6, and watched the section of the film version with the Prince of Morocco.  In our English 121 class, we completed viewing the movie, discussed a few themes, and you handed in your parodied soliloquies.  Tomorrow, you have a reflection due, and we'll examine the next research essay you'll be completing.

In English 9, on this fine, sunny day, we reviewed the Act 1, Scene 3 questions together, then read Act 2, Scene 3 (that Prince of Morocco is AWESOME!!).  For tomorrow, please complete the two questions assigned.  For the students of English 121, we created a class rubric for the SOLILOQUY (I've attached that assignment) you'll be completing for Thursday, then watched to almost the end of the movie.  I promise, we'll finish it tomorrow...

Today in English 9, we reviewed our Act 1, Scene 2 questions, then read Scene 3...where we were introduced to Shylock and his very bizarre "bond" with Antonio!  Act 3 questions are due for tomorrow.  During English 121, we watched most of Act IV of Hamlet.  We'll finish tomorrow, note some key scenes, then determine what shall NEXT be done....

In English 9, we shared our quatrains (well done!), then read Act 1, Scene 2 and completed the corresponding questions.  We'll complete Scene 3 on Monday...and find out the deal that Antonio and Bassanio make with Shylock (insert ominous music here).  English 121, you handed in your scientific method assignments, then we attended a TNB production.  If you haven't already handed in your reflection, please e-mail it tomorrow.  Thanks!

Good day, mine students!  In English 9, we reviewed your answers from Act 1, Scene 1, then learned all about the mystical, magical sonnets of our main man, Billy Shakespeare.  For homework, you must write YOUR OWN quatrain, using iambic pentameter and the ABAB rhyme scheme.  For example:   I know that you can write just like Shakespeare, His sonnets are a show of his great smarts. Your rhyme and rhythm should be very clear, Then celebrate with a fine game of darts.  (you don't know how bad I wanted to use "farts" there!!) English 121, I'm sorry that this very short week has been so hectic for you.  Today, we worked with some Shakespearean insults (we'll continue that when we're in class again).  For tomorrow, please complete your Scientific Method assignment, and e-mail your reflection to me by 1:30 pm on Friday.  Oh, we'll also get to watch TNB perform a mash-up of some of your Shakespeare faves tomorrow!  Great timing!

Hello there!  Today in English 9, we reviewed what we've covered in Act 1, Scene 1 of The Merchant of Venice, added to our character pages, and identified blank verse and iambic pentameter!  What a genius you are, Billy Shakespeare! For homework, please complete the Act 1, Scene 1 questions.   In English 121, you were assigned the task of applying the scientific method to your predictions in what will happen at the end of Hamlet.  Those reports are due on Thursday, as are your reflections.

Hello there!  In class today, ENGLISH 9 rounded off the intro material on our character pages, reviewed the questions we'll be working with for Act 1, Scene 1, then we began reading The Merchant of Venice.  Thank you so much to the "volunteers" who read parts today!  Oh, we also completed our course selection sheets.  If you missed today, we can get it done Tuesday.  In ENGLISH 121, we completed our Great Balloon Debate...well, at least down to Hamlet and Claudius.  It was great to see your creative thinking processes at work. Have a fantastic Easter!
