Happy Earth Day! Today in English 9, we completed to the end of Act 3, Scene 2.  Way to go, Bassanio!  Stinks to be you, Antonio!  The questions are to be completed for homework.  In our English 121 class, you handed in your essays, then presented some key pre-reading elements for our novel.  Don't forget that your reflection is due tomorrow.

Today in English 9, we completed all of Act 2, then watched the Prince of Arragon mis-choose his casket.  Tomorrow, we'll have a little SSR, then read Act 3, Scene 1.  On Wednesday, you'll be writing the second installment of the OCA.  In English 121, you chose your essay topic, and were given a little time to begin your paper.  You will also have tomorrow, as the paper is due on Thursday.  Remember to include all of your planning and notes, as well.  On Wednesday, you'll do a little novel intro work.

In English 9, we covered scenes 4 - 6, and watched the section of the film version with the Prince of Morocco.  In our English 121 class, we completed viewing the movie, discussed a few themes, and you handed in your parodied soliloquies.  Tomorrow, you have a reflection due, and we'll examine the next research essay you'll be completing.

Today in English 9, we reviewed our Act 1, Scene 2 questions, then read Scene 3...where we were introduced to Shylock and his very bizarre "bond" with Antonio!  Act 3 questions are due for tomorrow.  During English 121, we watched most of Act IV of Hamlet.  We'll finish tomorrow, note some key scenes, then determine what shall NEXT be done....

Good day, mine students!  In English 9, we reviewed your answers from Act 1, Scene 1, then learned all about the mystical, magical sonnets of our main man, Billy Shakespeare.  For homework, you must write YOUR OWN quatrain, using iambic pentameter and the ABAB rhyme scheme.  For example:   I know that you can write just like Shakespeare, His sonnets are a show of his great smarts. Your rhyme and rhythm should be very clear, Then celebrate with a fine game of darts.  (you don't know how bad I wanted to use "farts" there!!) English 121, I'm sorry that this very short week has been so hectic for you.  Today, we worked with some Shakespearean insults (we'll continue that when we're in class again).  For tomorrow, please complete your Scientific Method assignment, and e-mail your reflection to me by 1:30 pm on Friday.  Oh, we'll also get to watch TNB perform a mash-up of some of your Shakespeare faves tomorrow!  Great timing!

Hello there!  In class today, ENGLISH 9 rounded off the intro material on our character pages, reviewed the questions we'll be working with for Act 1, Scene 1, then we began reading The Merchant of Venice.  Thank you so much to the "volunteers" who read parts today!  Oh, we also completed our course selection sheets.  If you missed today, we can get it done Tuesday.  In ENGLISH 121, we completed our Great Balloon Debate...well, at least down to Hamlet and Claudius.  It was great to see your creative thinking processes at work.
