Eng 111 - Complete all questions/sections on the Cask of Amontillado worksheet. Eng 112 - Complete a stanza by stanza paraphrased analysis of The Nymph's Reply to the Shepherd. Compare this poem to Friday's The Passionate Shepherd to his Love. Besides the analysis (what is the "nymph" saying?), please identify the slant rhyme scheme and copy 2 copies of alliteration, assonance, and consonance (each).   *SEE ATTACHED FILES

Writing 110 - Reminder of our mid-term writing project due date: Tomorrow, Friday Dec. 4th. Be prepared to pitch your ideas and present your project (summarized of course!) Eng 111 - Re-read The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe and complete the attached question sheet. Part 1 asks you to skim and scan through the story and find speciifc examples of the listed figures of speech and Part 2 is a creative writing section. Eng 112 - Review your poetry notes (lyric poetry specifically).

Writing 110 - See Friday's post (attached are storyboard files to print and use - in case you don't have yours) Eng 111 - Tell Tale Heart writing assignment (1- 1.5 page typed)       Writing Activities:  Choose one of the following. 1.    Rewrite the final scene of the story from the perspective of one of the police officers.  You might wish to write the official report filed by them.  2.    Use another type of “point of view” shift to re-tell the story. 3.    Write a poem or song lyrics about the events of this story. 4.    Discuss the concept of “madness” – is the narrator really crazy? Or just a little “misunderstood”. 5. Write a brief “prequel” or “sequel” outlining events before or after the murder.   Eng 112 - Revision and re-draft of your persuasive essay based on our in-class peer revision checklist (see last post for assignment details).

Writing 110 - a gentle reminder to all students that your mid-term writing project is due at the end of next week (Thursday, Dec. 3rd). See the November 5th homework post for the assignment sheet/details.   Eng 111 - Review all short story notes. (attached)   Eng 112 - Persuasive essay drafts are DUE and to be completed for peer editing for Monday, Nov. 30th. The good copy is due on Wednesday. Your assignment sheet is attached.

Eng 111 - Classtime this week and early next will be spent researching your essay topic. The objective of this assignment is to research, reference and write 700-1000 words on a topic related to this time of year (Remembrance Day). Although your general topic is broad, remember to narrow your focus so that you can effectively organize your research and deliver the information. Follow the MLA format for citing your sources (4 minimum, at least 1 in print, wikipedia can only be used once - if at all). Refer to www.dianahacker.com/resdoc and follow "Documenting Sources", "MLA List of Works Cited". Due Date: Thursday, November 19th   Eng 112 - Continued research on your essay topic of "your own personal five wonders". Remember the main point of this expository piece is to practice your research, referencing and citation skills. Time in class will be spent researching, time at home will be organizing your essay. (November 11th, Remembrance, Canada's role in peacekeeping etc..) Eng 112 - Expository research essay on your own personal "Wonders of the World". Make your pre-writing list and have your topic ready to research on Monday.
