Eng 112 - Pre-writing ideas for the comparison essay you are assigned on the 3 Poe stories we read in class. Go through each of the stories and begin listing some of the similar elements (ie. Poe's use of symbolism in the three. His use of atmosphere. Descriptions of the narrators' character traits etc..) Eng 111 - creative extensions are due tomorrow!

Eng 112 -  Complete the "irony" and "symbolism" section of your Cask worksheet. Tomorrow we will begin the pre-writing foundation of your comparison essay of the three stories we studied. Eng 111 - tomorrow is the last day to work on your Act 1 creative extension. It is due Thursday.

Writing 110 - Finish your new and improved (and severely embellished) "Sequence of Events" to pass in tomorrow. Don't forget, you need the original piece of writing, the TAD chart, the New TAD chart and the revamped piece of writing. Eng 111 - Creative extension for Act 1. Your Act 1 test is tomorrow. Eng 112 - Complete the plotline and questions to "Cask of Amontillado". This is to PASS IN tomorrow.

Eng 112 - complete the following excercises (the_black_cat_question_sheet.doc) using your text of "The Black Cat" (see previous homework post for a file copy). Eng 111 - Using a "unique graphic organizer", compare the friendships of Benvolio and Mercutio with Romeo. Complete reading of Act 1, scene 5 and answer discussion questions.

Writing 110 -  reminder to complete your "idea-details" chart x 3. Eng 112 - Complete questions 1-11 on your sheet on "The Black Cat" using evidence from the text (see yesterday's post for the story. Here is the question sheet:    ) Eng 111 - finish reading Act 1, scene 4. Form a hypothesis on what the "Queen Mab" speech is about and apply it to Mercutio's character. (how does this rant change how we may view him?)

Eng 112 - Finish reading of "The Black Cat" and complete your plotline to pass in. Tomorrow we will work on the questions in class. Here is the story:  the_black_cat.doc Eng 111 - Work on "Discussion Questions" for act 1, scene 3 and complete the following assignment: Lady Capulet's speech to Juliet is a form of an extended metaphor. Your writing task tonight is to write an extended metaphor about yourself. What are YOU best compared to. Take the metaphor and draw it out - extend it to include the obvious and un-obvious characteristics of who YOU are as a human being (in all ways). Eng 112 - Complete the "Responding" section of your question sheet (see Friday's post for the attachment). A full paragraph using evidence from the text for each of the three questions. Pick one of the five writing activities on the sheet and offer a full page of creative genius. These are to pass in tomorrow. Eng 111 -  using a unique graphic organizer, compare both Capulet and Paris' views on marriage from Act 1, scene 2. (What is a "unique graphic organizer", you ask? A fancied up chart, venn diagram, idea web or similar platform for organizing comparable pieces of information!)

Writing 110 -  Reminder that your "Name" piece due date is Monday, Sept. 20th. The final copy is due (with drafts, pre-writing and rubric). Eng 112 - Complete a detailed plotline on Poe's "Tell Tale Heart" - be sure to add one example of irony taken from the story. Complete the 10 comprehension questions on the attached sheet.
