English 9 - After our terrific discussion about the plausible scenarios you came up with (and the accompanying rationales), we watched Act 4, scene 1 today.  Man, did the law ever come back to bite Shylock on the butt, eh?  Tomorrow, we'll examine a couple of important passages, indicate the differences between the written ending vs the movie ending, and do a one-pager dealing with dramatic irony.   If you missed the video, here's the link.  Start it up at about 1:23 or so.  If you find it tough to understand, we can figure it out in class tomorrow.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Mpm3FeirH0&feature=related   English 122 -  We discussed your chapter 3 Guiding Questions, then you completed an assignment dealing with possible scenarios that might play themselves out by the end of the novel, along with rationales.  We'll discuss those tomorrow in class.  For Friday, you have a Reflection and you must have completed to the end of chapter 4.

English 9 - Well, we've reached the end of Act 3, and the courtroom scene looms right around the corner in Act 4, scene 1.  Before learning the outcome of Antonio's fate, we worked in groups to determine three PLAUSIBLE outcomes, along with the rationales for each scenario.  It was a great use of your EVALUAING skills (thanks, Bloom's!).  Tomorrow, don't forget your novels for a little SSR, as your One-Pager is due on Thursday for your Book-A-Month. English 122 - Today, we discussed your Guiding Questions for chapter two, then examined a few key points, especially dealing with Steinbeck's incredible skills in character development and the ominous tone he creates through foreshadowing.  For Wednesday, please complete chapter three, along with the Guiding Questions and novel packet work that is required.  In addition, you WILL have a Reflection due on Friday (although not the final, "wrap up the semester" reflection that I'll be asking for next week).

English 9 - Great job with The Merchant of Venice.  FINALLY, Bassanio has selected the lead casket...but Antonio is not doing so well, eh? English 122 - No Reflection for this week, as you'll be working on completing chapter two in Of Mice and Men (along with the accompanying guiding questions and the required work in your novel packet) for Monday.  Work on that, instead!

English 9 - In class today, you enjoyed some reading time, boosted your character "star chart", completed the first two columns of the Suitors Chart, received the Act 3 study questions, then read Act 3, scene 1.  For tomorrow, please complete the corresponding questions.  Great work! English 122 - We completed the frontloading presentations for Of Mice and Men, added any necessary info to what you learned, and you were given chapter 1 guiding questions and a novel packet, that must be completed throughout your reading.  Whew!  Chapter 1 must be read for tomorrow, as you have no Article of the Week tonight.

English 9 - Hey there!  Today, you received your ELPA results (be sure to explain them to your folks!) and we read through to the end of Act 2, scene 6.  Tomorrow, you'll be reading your novel pick for the Book-A-Month, then we'll read (hopefully) to the end of Act 2.  We'll DEFINITELY watch the Prince of Morocco to see how he fares... English 122 - Hey to you, too!  For tomorrow, your Article of the Week is due.  In addition, your multi-genre project is due on Friday, and today was the only period you'll be given to work on it.  Tomorrow, we'll start frontloading for John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men.

English 9 - Today, we read Act 1, scene 3 of The Merchant of Venice...and learned about how using an ASIDE can create DRAMATIC IRONY.  For tomorrow, please complete the study questions and bring your novels. ENGLISH 122 - This afternoon you were given your Article of the Week (due tomorrow), and a gentle reminder of the research essay you have due this Friday, along with the Multi-Genre project due NEXT Frday, May 18.  Keep plugging away at both of those, right?  I've attached everything below.
