English 9 - Hey there!  Today, you were assigned your Article of the Week (no notation - practice sumarizing each paragraph instead, on the page you were provided), then we played "Who Is This?" to show you how to come up with a writing idea if you're stuck.  After that, we looked at how to use basic point form and storyboards as graphic organizers, which you will be trying with your memoire. English 122 -  Ditto with the Article of the Week (due tomorrow), but you'll be doing notation.  On top of that, we kept plugging away with our friend Dr. Faustus, working on our note-taking skills.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE THIS WEEKEND, ON ALL THREE DAYS!  THANK YOU!   English 9 - In class today, we took at a look at the graphic organizers we've used to date, then we re-organized our Venn diagram from yesterday.  From there, I showed you how to turn the info on your Venn diagram into better paragraphs (instead of just listing the item from your Venn diagram, right?).  After that, you began a list of words and phrases that describe who and what you are...which we will "Wordle" on Monday!   English 122 - If you didn't hand in your reflection today, please e-mail it to me before 2:00 tomorrow.  Also, rememeber that your novel study and book talk are due on Monday.  In class today, we continued, then presented, the short activity in analyzing the prologue of Dr. Faustus.  Well done!

English 9 - In class today, we had a GREAT say about the Article of the Week from last night, we conducted a short analysis of what the "typical" person looks like right now (supported by National Geographic, of course), then we worked on completing a Venn diagram to organize our ideas before writing a comparison/contrast piece.  On Thursday, I'll show you how to further organize those notes, then turn them into paragraphs!  Good luck tomorrow with Take Your Kid to Work Day! English 122 - We also discussed last night's AotW, reviewed the Great Chain of Beings, then took a look at where William Blake believes we gather "knowledge", by analyzing a few of his poems.  Keep on trucking with your novel study, right?

English 9 - Today we watched a short video to frontload our Article of the Week (due tomorrow, of course), then we discussed your analysis of "The Man Who Finds..." and took at look at the overall text forms you're supposed to be familiar with to meet the end of grade eight standards (one down...a few more to go!).  You also handed in your One-Pager for your book of the month.  Thanks! English 12 - Ditto on the video and Article of the Week.  We then completed our discussion of the Great Chain of Beings, and you received a boatload of your work back, to file in your folder.  We'll begin an intro to Dr. Faustus tomorrow.   Have a safe Halloween, folks.

English 9 - In class today, we enjoyed some SSR (remember that your One-Pager is due at the beginning of class on Monday), then you worked on the second stage of your poetry analysis, "The Man Who Finds That His Son Has Become A Thief."  The analysis is due for Monday (although most of you completed it during Study Block).  Thanks for your hard work! English 122 - You handed in your reflections (thanks!), wrote a little quiz covering the information presented to you by your peers, then learned about the awesomeness that is The Great Chain of Beings.  Please don't forget to keep reading your independent novel study!  You have a week left!

English 9 - Great work today with your analysis of "Imprints"!  Tomorrow, please be sure to have your novel (your One-Pager is due on Monday), and be prepared to analyze the next poem, "The Man Who Finds That His Son Has Become A Thief" (I've attached it to this post). English 122 - Today, we continued with your presentations.  Nice work!  Don't forget your reflection for tomorrow.

English 9 - Today, you handed in your Article of the Week, we had a great say about it, then you enjoyed a little SSR. After that, you began your analysis of the poem "Imprints" by Pat Jasper, using some guiding tips that were "zapped" to your netbooks.  Questions one and two are due for tomorrow, right? English 122 - You also handed in your Article of the Week, followed by a great say.  After that, you were reminded of your non-fiction novel study (due in two weeks), and you were given time to work on your presentation for tomorrow.

English 9 - Thanks for handing in your "Incident" poem today.  In class, you also received your Halloween-themed Article of the Week, due tomorrow, and Wordled yourself a quiz!  Well done!   English 122 -  You handed in the final draft of your research papers (thank you!), received your Article of the Week (dealing with the teen brain), were assigned a non-fiction novel study (due in two weeks, with a One-Pager and a Book Talk), then worked on your presentations, due Wednesday.  Whew!
