English 9 - Today, we added "THEME" to our list of poetic terms (thanks to a 20-year gap in songs for helping us with this one), Then, you began working on your own analysis of "The Man Who Finds That His Son Has Become A Thief."  Good work so far!  The entire analysis page is due tomorrow, so we can move on to the next stage. English 121 - You did a WICKED job of listing the questions you'd ask one of the sins if you had the chance.  I loved that.  We then read a little further into the play.

English 9 - We had a great discussion about your AotW (tappin' in to that 15%!), then you read a little and we began the next step for you...doing your own comparison/contrast of two poems. English 121 - Another GREAT say about your AotW, then we met seven wonderfully horrible sins.  Don't forget your Book Talk for next week.  Knock our socks off.

English 9 - Hi there!  Today, you received your Article of the Week (well, two of them, actually - yours is due tomorrow), then we turned our Venn Diagram notes into two INCREDIBLE paragraphs for comparison/contrast purposes.  I'll have those ready for tomorrow! English 121 - Hey to you!  You also received your AotW for tomorrow, then we had a GREAT say about the idea of hell being anywhere that heaven isn't...thanks, Mephistopheles!  Keep hammering away at your non-fiction selections, too.

English 9 - Thanks for doing a great job with your Warm-Ups today, and a WONDERFUL job with our class discussion of the two poems you've been analyzing.  Tomorrow, we'll move that info into a more workable format using a Venn diagram...right after we enjoy some SSR, so bring your books! English 121 - We started off today's class with a "controlled free-write" (yes, that title is completely made up), we reviewed what we covered yesterday, then we kept right on plugging through you-know-who.  I had forgotten how much I LOVE this play!!  I'm so, so grateful that I get to read it with YOU!  Don't forget about your reflections for tomorrow, and keep on truckin' with your non-fiction selection.

English 9 - Today, you finished up your quiz from yesterday, handed in your "Incident" poems with all parts of your process, then you worked on analyzing two poems, "Jenny Kissed Me" and "Suicide's Note", in order to organize their comparison/contrast with a Venn diagram (we'll do that part tomorrow). English 121 - I don't even want to talk about what we covered today, because the lights will flick off and I'm in here all by myself.  Needless to say, we learn about the Humanism movement and began to read stuff...no big deal...  Be sure to plug away at your non-fiction selection and have a Reflection read for Friday.

English 121 - Hi there!  You also received your Article of the Week, we completed our intro activity for Dr. Faustus (the part with the chorus), and we added a few terms to your list.  We'll continue with that tomorrow.

English 9 - Hi!  In class today, we did a different sort of Warm-Up with creativewritingprompts.com (well done), then you took your "Incident" poem to the next level.  FOR HOMEWORK, you must have completed the draft of your poem (at least three stanzas long). English 121 - Hi to you, too!  Today, you learned about the Great Chain of Beings (Maggie - you have some notes to get!).  Remember that your Reflection is due tomorrow.

English 9 - Hello!  In class today, we did a Warm-Up with the song "Mother, Mother" and took a look at how to effectively use punctuation and short or long lines to get the reader thinking.  After that, we shared your "Dreams" metaphors, and you wrote an extended metaphor about yourself.  The good copy (I'll be posting them in my room) is due tomorrow. English 121 - Thanks for handing in yuour essays today.  I can't wait to read them!  Thanks, too, for the terrific presentations - we have one left tomorrow, then we'll get to work on our friend, Dr. Faustus.
