Happy Thursday!  In 121 English today, you handed in a boatload of work, then we watched the final scenes of Hamlet and had a good old say about it.  Enjoy your very well-deserved break...and be ready for The Great Balloon Debate when you get back!  In English 9, you handed in your sonnets, then we worked through Act 1, scene 2 and part of scene 3.  You're making some terrific inferences!

Hey there!  This morning in English 121, you handed in your classic novel study info, and we had a quick say about the Article of the Week from Monday.  Your scientific method assignment and this week's reflection are due tomorrow...when we will watch the final scene of Hamlet (starring Kenneth Branaugh, directed by Kenneth Branaugh, choreographed by Kenneth Branaugh...).  In our English 9 class, you did a little peer editing of your sonnets, WHICH ARE DUE TOMORROW.  We also read Act 1, scene 1 of The Merchant of Venice and completed a few basic questions for general understanding.  Good job!

Good Monday!  In our 121 English class this morning, you were assigned your Article of the Week for tomorrow, and you completed a "30-Minute Thriller" regarding some key issues in Hamlet.  Be sure that you're plugging away at your classic novel study (Wednesday) and your Scientific Method assignment (Thursday).  In English 9, we learned all about the Shakespearean sonnet...and now you're going to attempt to write one!  This will be due on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how you use your class time.

Good Friday, people!  English 121ers, I hear some of you have been belly-aching about workload.  Well, that won't make any of it go away, so try working, instead.  I wouldn't assign more than I think you can handle.  That being said, thanks for handing in your reflections today.  The assignment you received in class, "Applying the Scientific Method to Hamlet" is due next Thursday.  Plug away at your independent novel study, also. English 9ers, thanks for having a say about the bigger themes in The Merchant of Venice, then taking a little tour through Venice to get a better idea of the setting.  On Monday, we'll take a quick look at one or two of Shakespeare's sonnets, so we can better identify the iambic pentameter and blank verse we identified this morning.

Hey!  In English 121 class today, we completed Act 4, and watched two film versions of Ophelia's madness.  Yikes!  For tomorrow, please complete your reflection, and be prepared to conduct a little "scientific experiment."  As for English 9, we completed, individually, the pre-reading thinkers that address eight themes we'll likely see in the play.  We then worked on our small-group discussion skills, too.  Good work!  We'll continue with that tomorrow, and take a loook at some of the characters we'll be meeting.

Hi!  Today in 121 English, we had a brief say about our Article of the Week, then we motored through a section of act 4.  I also gave you a pretty good heads-up about the bigger assignments that are looming over the next week or two.  Tomorrow, we'll watch dear Ophelia...In our English 9 class, we reviewed some of the note-making you did yesterday, then completed a text feature activity with The Merchant of Venice books, and begin a little re-adjusting of our moral compasses through some pre-reading items for you to consider.  We'll continue with that tomorrow, after you hand in the final copies of your research essays.

Good sunny day!  In English 121 this morning, we were lucky enough to have Mr. Savoy work through a presentation on copyright use and EBSCO.  What a boatload of information!  Continue plucking away at your classic novel study, and we'll pick up Hamlet in act four tomorrow.  In our English 9 class, we worked on our note MAKING skills (beyond just note TAKING), while learning more about Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.  Great work!

Helloooo!  This morning in English 121, you received your Article of the Week (time for some introspection...), and we plowed through the rest of Act 3.  Tomorrow, we'll have a couple of vistors to further familiarize us with EBSCO and everything ti has to offer.  Also, remember to keep plugging away at your classic novel choice.  In English 9, we handed back your edited first draft - remember that the fixed version is due on THURSDAY, and you won't be getting class time to work on it, right?  We then enjoyed the remainder of your presentations.  Tomorrow, we'll take a look at some of the more important features of the Globe Theatre, and how Shakespeare really knew how to keep his audience involved.  If time, we'll work on a text features activity with the Merchant of Venice texts.

Hey!  We completed our Book Talks in English 121 today.  Terrific job.  You've certainly encouraged the rest of us to select a few more from the cart.  Remember that your classic choice is due to be completed in two weeks, and your reflection is due tomorrow.  In English 9, you (hopefully) completed your awesome Elizabethan-era presentations, and will begin sharing them tomorrow.

Hey there!  Today in 121 English, you were assigned another additional novel study, this one focusing on a "classic" of your choosing.  The due date for this assignment is Wednesday, April 20.  We also enjoyed a few more book talks.  Lovin' 'em!  In English 9, we reviewed the finer points of a great presentation, then you went straight to work.  Well done!  We'll begin the presentations this Friday.
