Welcome back!  Today, you were given your Article of the Week (DUE TOMORROW!), and we reviewed the results of your September and December Mock ELPA.  Great work!  Tomorrow, we'll keep on rolling with the ELPA prep, and do a little writing to share with our friends...

Hellooo, peeps!  In class today, you handed in your Article of the Week and a VERY edited essay (if you didn't, you joined me for a lovely PB and J during homework lunch).  We then enjoyed some SSR, and reviewed (or re-learned) how to properly punctuate with apostrophes.  We'll do a little more practice with that tomorrow.  No homework tonight.  Have a good one!

Hey there, folks!  In class today, we completed a short Warm-Up using DRAMATIC IRONY, then corrected your there/their/they're work and wrote an in-class quiz.  Well done!  If we can just get that info into your regular application...In addition to that, I modeled how to turn the outline for your essay into the actual essay (yes, dogs ARE better than cats!).  Your own clearly edited draft is due on Tuesday, December 21.  Good luck!

Hiya! Today, we completed a sample Warm-Up for our Four Days of Christmas Literacy, then we finished our evaluation of the ELPA exemplar, and took a look at the rationales.  From there, we tackled the "their/they're/there" dilemma.  Please complete the page with 14 examples on it for homework.  Have a great night!

Hello!  Today, you handed in your Article of the Week or MacLean's assignment, then enjoyed some SSR (thanks for considering the setting during your reading today!). After that, we took another look at the provincial scoring rubric for the writing portion of the ELPA in January, and you attempted to score an exemplar from last year's ELPA.  We'll look at that in a little more detail tomorrow, then review the rationales for how that particular essay was scored.  No homework tonight!

Helloooooo!  In class today, you received your Article of the Week for tomorrow (or a MacLean's magazine - your choice), entered your mock ELPA data into Senteo (Congrats!  Most of you scored higher than you did in September!), and we reviewed the comma splice/run-on page together.  Your Article of the Week is due tomorrow.  Thanks!

Happy Friday, peeps!  Today, you enjoyed some SSR while I handed back a TON of your work.  Well done!  Then, we tackled the problem of comma splices and run-ons.  We'll continue that on Monday, and input our NEW mock Assessment marks into Senteo to compare with your scores from September. Have a safe weekend!

Hiya!  Today, we checked our map-reading skills, and periods two and six handed in their "Born or Made That Way" assignment (periods two and three handed in theirs yesterday).  We then used one of your intros to complete an outline form...which could potentially be developed into an essay.  If you didn't complete the outline in class, please do so for tomorrow.  Have a great night!

Happy Friday to you!  In periods 1 and 6, we wrapped up the reading of The Yellow Wallpaper, and you were given an assignment due next Wednesday, December 8.  Your job is to determine (through a well-written three paragraph miminum) whether or not the narrator was BORN or MADE into what she became.  Periods 2 and 3...you did an AWESOME job in developing your own completely original character through playing "Who Owns This".  Special props to Jeremy White...yo.  Your "Born or Made" assignment is due on Tuesday, December 7.  Enjoy your weekend!

Hello, folks!  Today, we had a discussion about symbolism and irony, and took a peek at what being a GOOD wife actually entails...at least in 1955. From there, you were given an assignment that is due on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7.  You are to determine whether or not you believe the narrator was born or made into what she became.
