English 122 - We had a good say about your section I reading last night, and you determined that you'd read from page 17 - 28 for tomorrow.  Remember, your Reflection is also due.  Thanks!

Eng 9 - Today, you completed your Mock ELPA.  Tomorrow, we'll compare & contrast this one to the one you wrote last September.  Can't wait!  Remember, the Reading Comprehension section will be next Tuesday, Jan. 15 in the morning, Writing I will be Wednesday (Jan. 16) morning and Writing II will be Wednesday afternoon. Eng 121 - In class this morning, we determined that we'd read up to page six of Everyman, making tons of notation in order to direct our discussion tomorrow.  Also, we took some time to have a look at the rubrics I'll be using on your final exam, and how best to use them.  You have three sample questions due for tomorrow (based on Of Mice and Men), which I'll have scored for you by Monday.

English 9 - You were given your Article of the Week (due tomorrow), we practiced punctuating by using our voices, and we had a look at the first of many samples of exemplars from the ELPA.  English 121 - You were also give an AotW, but in a different format.  You can view it here  http://worldreality.org/?p=808 and there is a printed copy for you in class.  After that, we took a look at Robbie Burns' poem, "To A Mouse" to see where Steinbeck came up with his title for Of Mice and Men, then you began your final test.  We'll complete that tomorrow, then watch the film version on Thursday and Friday.

English 9  - Today, you received your Article of the Week (it's an advertisement...we needed a little more work with those), which is due tomorrow.  Your paragraph assignment (which of the three characters might be a little morally "better"?) is due on Wednesday, along with all parts of the process.  In addition, we completed a "Pie Chart of Responsibility" in class today, followed by a discussion of what we believe, as individuals, are the factors that help direct the way our lives will turn out.  Good work!  Remember, your One-Pager is due tomorrow, if you haven't already passed it in. English 121 - You also received your AotW, which is due tomorrow.  After that, I gave you the Guiding Questions for chapter one in Of Mice and Men and we read part of that chapter.  Questions 1 - 4 are due for tomorrow, also.

English 9 - Hi!  In class today, I shared some of the great hooks you used in creating your eharmony profiles for the "last person" trapped in the room of There Was A Knock On The Door.  Great work!!  Ater that, we reviewed your responses to Fredric Brown's Voodoo and we read and responded to another of his short stories, Hobbyist.  Tomorrow, we'll use Venn diagrams to compare and contrast the two stories...then try to determine if Mr. Decker, Sangstrom or the Druggist is any "better" than the other.  No homework for tonight. English 121 - Thank you, thank you, thank you for such a wonderful day.  Tomorrow, we'll begin presenting your Of Mice and Men frontloading projects.  Don't forget about your reflection fro Friday, too.
