Law 120- Students are introduced to current sentencing of Cody Schumaker guilty of beating a 1 year old to death. What were the events surrounding the trial. Talk about respect for the court. Today teacher reviews the French revolution through the six benchmarks. ·         Historical significance- It is important because the result was the Declarations of rights for man. This is what protects and governs civilizations around the world. ·         Primary source evidence- Historians accounts, paintings that capture that moment of history. First hand documents to support the events as well as structures that tell the story. ·         Continuity and Change- Change to the rights of men and of women. Countries have learned to blend Monarchs and democracy. Not all changes were good… lots of bloodshed. ·         Ethical dimensions of History- the bloodshed that brings about revolution shows the importance of this belief. ·         Historical Perspective’s- What did the people feel like under a monarch that did not care… helps us to learn to understand the power we have in democracy and through the election process. ·         Cause and consequence- the change of rights of men changed the world forever. Small changes from men who stood up for rights eventually lead to freedoms of men.  Reading tutor: Get to know our Chinese students. Teacher will play some low organized games to help build rapport with Chinese students. These students will be tested to gain understanding as to their level of English. Ancient History: Finish the Great debate paper. Due Monday- quiz is also on Monday- I will ask you to write for me the seven wonders of the ancient world and include one fact for each. The other words will be used for a quiz at the end of the week.

Law 120- Students will look at the Ashley Smith Case and answer the question- Were her rights violated? Students will develop a profile of Ashley Smith and look for solutions to the situation. We will watch the fifth estate presenation of the case. Teacher will also talk to students about the search for truth and how media can at times alter the truth. The students will now look at how these factors are present in modern revolutions. Brainstorm the words associated with the speech and work on pronouciation skills. By the end of class students should have an idea for their speech and a list of words associated with the speech. Ancient History:  Students will hand in their Seven wonders of the Ancient world write up- Teacher will do a quick quiz for bonus points. Name a wonder and a fact. Quiz on these wonders will be on Wednesday of this week. Today students will finish up the historical thinking benchmarks- Historical perspectives and Cause and consequence.

Law 120- We have been looking at the historical roots of Law- Quiz on definitions that we will cover will be on Friday- Word list is attached as well as powerpoint. (10 Minutes) Students are then given a few minutes to get the definitions need for the quiz on Friday. History 113: Ethical approach to History- Students will review the ethical components of history. Look at a picture, what words come to your mind? Picture of the Unknown Soldier tomb. What do you know about this moment in history? What can it teach us about respect and empathy for others? Bio poem exercise. Reading tutor: International students will read for 20 minutes- Canadian students will help them in their reading. Students will then write a summary of their reading- Canadian students will organize their lesson for the week- outline provided to students. Ancient History 10: Benchmarks of history- memorials. In Ancient history there have been several memorials that civilizations have made that remind us about historical accomplishments. They are the seven wonders of the ancient world. Research each of these wonders and prepare a write up in pairs:     1.  Describe the wonder    2.  Who was the builder? 3.  Why was it built? 4.  Where was it built? 5.  Is it still standing? If not, what happened? 6.  When was it built? 7.  How was it built? 8.  Any other interesting facts. Include your sources- you need at least two sites per wonder.- Due Thursday Sept 11th, 2014.

Marketing- How will we sell it- ideas to market to an audience. Obstacles when it comes to the James M. Hill theatre and remedies for these problems. Why will it be successful.
